Here are some “new name” underclassmen from Central Kansas who earned all-league recognition this year:
Central Kansas League:
Taylor Campbell Taylor Campbell 6'2" | SG Smoky Valley | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Lyons – 2nd team
The Lions struggled this season, but Campbell was a highlight. He’s a gliding slasher who can put the ball on the floor to get to shots. His length and driving ability make him a tough guard on the perimeter. He’s also a shooter who averaged 16 points as a junior.
Central Plains League:
Kaeden Kasselman Kaeden Kasselman 6'3" | PF Garden Plain | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2025, Garden Plain – 2nd team
A standout for another team that struggled, Kasselman is a powerful paint performer. It’s rare to see a sophomore so overpower older opponents. The rugged football star banged his way to 8 rebounds a game.
Central Prairie League:
Seth Schwien, 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Victoria – 2nd team
Schwien is a long, active defender in the paint who runs the floor and gets after it at both ends. He averaged a double-double, notching 10 points and 10 boards as a junior.
Heart of the Plains League:
Luke Albers, 5-foot-11 guard, 2025, Cunningham – 1st team
A talented sophomore who earned second-team all-state honors from Sports in Kansas, Albers led his team to a 14-9 record and just one point from a trip to state. The versatile guard averaged 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
North Central Activities League:
Michael Matteucci Michael Matteucci 5'9" | PG Sacred Heart | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-9 guard, 2024, Sacred Heart – 1st team
An athletic guard who runs the show at Sacred Heart, Matteucci led his team to a 13-10 record. The Knights came just a game short of state – a heartbreaking two-point loss to Bennington. The junior dished out 5 assists while scoring 16 points per game.
