Introducing Team Mookie 17u

Team Mookie 17u will spend the first LIVE period in Indianapolis. Last week Head Coach Michael Claybrooks, who coaches with William Belliford, discussed what he foresees from his Team Mookie 17u squad this summer.

REACH is out of Michigan. Team Loaded originated in North Carolina, but they have teams in Virginia and NC both. This Team Loaded squad is based out of central, east, and south central Virginia, covering Richmond, Chesterfield, Midlothian, and others.

Coach Claybrooks Analysis

On Maddux Bodenhamer Maddux Bodenhamer 6'1" | PG Antioch | 2024 State TN
Just really, I think the biggest thing for him has been his shot. From what he has shown so far, he is shooting with more confidence. Want him to take that next step. Trust him in big games. He has looked really, really good the pre-camp. Good I.Q. Comes from a basketball familiy.

On Fred Bailey Fred Bailey 6'1" | PG JPII | 2024 State TN
Kind of the same thing. I think Fred is really, really explosive. Defends like crazy. High IQ. Pass-first guard. I think at times he can shoot the ball pretty good, but a lot of times he can rely on the drive. We are working on his shot and we want him to take over games, because he has that ability. When he is motored up and going he is hard to stop.

On Nick Brunetti
Goes to M.B.A. Comes from a good system. Sneaky athletic. Going to really wow some people. High I.Q. guy. Doesn’t really have many weaknesses. Probably a little light. Played well. Had some good games. Capable of leading MBA in scoring any game. Lead us last year scoring a couple of times coming off of the bench. He can play. Solid, good player. Had a good season with MBA.

On Cole McCormick Cole McCormick 6'5" | SF Notre Dame | 2024 State TN
He is talking to a ton of D1’s. I think, if you watch him with his high school, he is kind of at that 4/5, but with us he has been on the wing since he was a freshman. Big body. Strong. Can shoot the ball. Plays above the rim. The biggest thing is, showing what he can do on the wing. You know what you are getting with Cole. Very strong. Very athletic. Can guard 1-3. Lot of positions. Going to be exciting to watch.

On Kavien Jones Kavien Jones 6'6" | PF Battle Ground Academy | 2024 State TN
Big shoulders. Big body. I thought he had a great year with BGA. MVP of the district. Working extremely hard. I think he has gotten better handling the ball, creating his own shot. He can rebound obviously. Super athletic. Very strong. Can shoot the three. Starting to get better at that mid-range level. Great finishing touch around the rim. I think he has an offer from Samford. Looking to add to that.

On Casey Williams Casey Williams 6'8" | PF Norcross | 2024 State GA
He is a kid that I am looking to really turn that corner. Pretty decent camp. The biggest thing is, when he is motored up, there is nothing anybody can do with him. When he is locked in, he is just an athlete. He can guard multiple positions. He has started to add range to his shot. He can hit 3’s now. Looking for him to rebound and block shots. That is what he does, no problem. He can dominant the boards. The biggest thing for all of my guys is consistency. We have been talking a lot about consistency.

On Griffin Cooper Griffin Cooper 6'8" | PF Columbia Academy | 2024 State TN
I think he is going to have one of the best, if not the best summers. Can score around the rim. We have added a little range to his shot.

I am telling you right now. The kid can play. He is not a 4 or 5 at all. He is not the biggest. He has a light frame. His IQ is high.
