Grind Region Kick Off had plenty of talent all around in the 15u pools. With prospects ranging from 2026 to even some 2028s we got a glimpse of whos next up in Oklahoma and neighboring states. Here are five players who can impact the game in many different ways.
Tarril Craig
Tarril Craig
Craig was one of what seemed to be many 2027s playing up at the Grind Region Kick Off this past weekend but that did not impact the way he played one bit. Craig is a very capable shooter from behind the three point line and was not afraid to let it fly. When the jumper wasn’t falling he was able to get to the rim and finish well off of two feet. Craig’s got a bright future playing against some solid competition this summer.
Jakoby Roberts
Jakoby Roberts
Roberts is a 5’7 guard that is a very complimentary spot up shooter to a one guard who can create off the bounce. He is able to knock down the catch and shoot consistently. He’s got a quick shot from the left side. He can take his man off the dribble, penetrate, and has the IQ to finish off two into contact in the lane.
Tyler Reed
Tyler Reed
Reed ran a great one guard for JEB Elite-2 this past weekend in the games I got to watch. Handled some tough man to man trapping pressure well and was able to break away from pressure and distribute. He was able to break his man down and get by him and finish at the rim or dump it off. The highlight of Reeds game for me though was his defense. Very fundamentally sound, sits low and stays low, keeps a hand on, slides very well.
Jekhi Owens
Jekhi Owens
Owens is another guard prospect I really liked on JEB Elite-2. Very poised and just had always stayed calm no matter how the game was going. He’s got a pretty solid handle but doesn’t do much dancing with his defender. He is able to get by his defender with his quickness. He can score it from deep either off the bounce or off the catch and uses jabs to create that space in order to have some time to get his jumper off.
Leland Wilson
Leland Wilson
Wilson was an awesome player to watch. In Team Movements matchup against KSK he was responsible with guarding KSK’s 6’5 and 6’7 forwards. Obviously he had to adjust how he guarded them but he was quick to go for the steal when they put it on the ground and was active on denying the entry. He is a real solid rebounder standing at 5’9 and grabbed plenty of boards on both ends with his leaping ability.
