Continue ReadingThe CBG Tip-Off takes place this Saturday at Rock It Sports in Richmond, and it looks like one of the top pre-live period events with a loaded field of both shoe company and independent teams. The event starts at 9 AM with the last game set at 8 PM, and features some of the best prospects in VA, NC and the DMV areas.
Here’s a look at part three of the many 17U prospects to watch for at the event.

Khani Rooths | 6’7” WF | New World
Rooths was a part of the New World 17s team that won the 3SSB Championship last year and had a big junior season with an IMG team that made a run to the national semifinals, and this summer he’ll be one of the most sought after wings in the country. The 6’7” wing has been intriguing with his size and athleticism from the beginning, he’s starting to round out his game as a shot maker and playmaker and he is dynamite in transition with the ball in his hands.
Caden Diggs Caden Diggs 6'7" | SF Bullis | 2024 State #125 Nation MD | 6’7” WF | New World
Diggs is another big wing that should see his recruitment pick up big time this summer after a very good junior season at Bullis. The 6’7” wing is an explosive athlete who can get out in transition or get downhill and finish at and above the rim, he’s a capable shot maker who can attack closeouts after he makes a few and defensively he shines with his ability to guard multiple positions and rebound well too.
Ty Bevins Ty Bevins 6'5" | SG Gwynn Park | 2024 State #157 Nation MD | 6’5” CG | New World
Bevins is one of the most intriguing guard prospects in the DMV and he showed that this season with his talented Gwynn Park team. At 6’5” he has great positional size and with his ability to play on or off the ball he can play in the backcourt with almost anyone, he is shifty off the bounce and has good burst to be able to blow by defenders and he has a mix of scoring and distributing ability that makes him very impactful.
Brave Rustindura | 6’11” C | New World
Rustindura is a very intriguing big man who showed flashes of brilliance in the Elite Prep League with Mt. Zion this season, and he could turn heads on the recruitment scene this summer. A legit 6’11”, Rustindura is a big time paint presence who can alter shots without fouling, he has good hands to catch tough passes and has good touch around the rim as a finisher and he has a lot of room to continue to get better moving forward.
Yuri Manns Yuri Manns 6'3" | CG LC Bird | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | Team Loaded 804
One of the best available seniors that are still out there, Manns is coming off a season at LC Bird where he was named Region Player of the Year and showed his ability to score the ball with the best of them. The 6’3” wing is a true three level scorer who has deep range off the catch or the bounce, he gets downhill and has become a much more athletic finisher over the past year or so and he gets to the line a lot for easy points.
John St. Germain John St. Germain 6'2" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | Team Loaded 804
St. Germain is another very talented available senior who was a big reason for STAB’s run to the VISAA D1 Championship game this year. The 6’1” lead guard is a true floor general who has command of the floor and sees everything with the ball in his hands, he changes speeds well and touches the paint often where he can finish at the rim or he can make every pass imaginable with either hand and he’s an excellent defender who moves his feet and has great instincts.
Daytwan Johnson | 6’4” CG | Tru 757
Johnson is one of a number of talented available seniors on this Tru 757 team, and he’s coming off a big year where he was one of the top scorers in the 757 at Booker T. Washington. The 6’4” combo has good size and is a natural athlete who can get to the rim and explode as a finisher, he’s a talented shotmaker who can create space and knock down shots from multiple levels and he has the ability to get hot and take over games at will.
Troy Giles Troy Giles 6'0" | CG Hargrave Military Academy | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | Tru 757
Giles is another available senior who made a name for himself this year helping lead Hargrave’s varsity team to a state semifinal run, and he’s the type of guard that makes your team better in so many ways. He’s a true PG who has good feel and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands, he’s a good athlete who can get to the rim and explode as a finisher and he is a good defender both on the ball and in help side.
