Prep Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek is going to take in the Atlanta Jam this weekend hosted at the Suwanee Sports Academy. Here are some of the Top 17U Players To Watch this weekend:
The 5-9 rising senior guard is an upcoming prospect that will be worth noting this weekend at the Atlanta Jam. Cutler does all the right things whether it’s making an extra pass, taking a smart shot or being a vocal leader on the defensive end. His offensive touch is smooth as he can shoot from all three levels at a high rate. Cutler will be playing with SWFL Hoops this weekend.
Highlights
The 6-5 versatile guard can finish around the rim at a high level. His strength and athleticism have taken a huge step so far as far as his recruitment process goes. Thomas consistently finishes around the rim and is an explosive finisher as he is unafraid to finish against stronger and bigger defenders. Thomas currently holds offers from North Carolina A&T, Radford and Wichita State but expect that list to grow after the first Live Period this weekend.
The 6-7 forward is at his best when he is finishing around the rim on the offensive end. He has a smooth touch and can handle the ball like a guard as well. On the defensive end he can also block shots and rebound with the best of them as he is coming off a season where he averaged over 10 rebounds per game at Palm Beach Central.
The 6-1 point guard is an initiator on the offensive end and has a quick first step. He is an efficient passer and can make plays happen on both ends of the floor. Gilchrist is a true three-level scorer who can shoot at a high rate from the paint, mid-range or even the perimeter. He is also a sensational on the ball defender as he uses his quickness and length to jump into the passing lanes to get steals or the loose ball.
The 6-2 shooting guard plays bigger than his size indicates. He is strong and can finish efficiently around the rim with either hand and is a pure shooter from beyond the perimeter. Carter received his first offer from Covenant College earlier in the week.
Gabriel Timmons
Gabriel Timmons
The 6-0 rising senior point guard is a leader and a floor general on the offensive end. Timmons adds great court vision and a high basketball IQ to his game, along with his pure ball-handling skills and ability to shoot from the mid-range and perimeter. On the defensive end he can guard multiple positions and is unafraid to guard someone who is bigger than him. Look for his recruitment to start taking notice after the first Live Period this weekend.
