Improvement can take many forms, such as overcoming challenges, developing a new skill, making positive changes, honing a craft, or simply improving your athleticism. This all requires dedication, hard work, and often involves stepping outside one’s comfort zone. People who have recently improved can serve as role models and inspirations to others. It is important to recognize and celebrate the achievements of those who have recently improved, as it can help build confidence and encourage continued growth and development. By sharing their stories and experiences, these individuals can inspire others to strive for personal improvement and reach their full potential.
These players all had a quality high school season and they all have loads of potential. Keep up the great work!
We do not have 7-footer’s very often in the Dakotas! It is even more rare to have a 7-footer that moves like Kuhl. He gets his AAU season started today and I am excited to hear how he looks. Jake will be at Prep Hoops Live next weekend and I will be sitting front row for game 1. Kuhl moves his feet very well, can stroke it from 3, and he finishes with both hands around the basket. Kuhl has heard from NSIC schools and I will not be surprised when there are D1 coaches taking a look next weekend. Big things are ahead for this 7-footer.
He recently picked up an offer from Dakota State. Lukas averaged 15.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 2.3 apg, and shot 48.6 FG%. Morgan has a ton of upside because of his length, versatility, and ability to slash from the wing. He also plays with passion and energy. There is never a dull moment when Morgan is playing, he gives 110% effort. Lukas is a high percentage shooter, he shot nearly 50% from the field and 39% from 3-point land. College coaches will want to see this long wing/SF. I will certainly be watching when SD Identity plays at Battle at the Lakes.
Highlights
If you like old school posts, you will love Morgan! This season he averaged 9.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, and shot a blistering 53.5 FG%. It is always nice to have a BIG that shoots a high percentage. Josh has great hands and feet. The best part is, Olthoff is not a black hole when he gets the rock. He is a willing passer out of the post and he makes others better. His strength, size, and effort make Josh a lane protector and a stout defender. He has solid moves with his back to the basket and he scores with a soft touch. Josh is not afraid of contact and he is physical on both ends. Expect Olthoff to be one of the best low post players in AA next year and for the Lynx to be one of the top teams in 2023-24.
He helped the Tigers get to State and VanBockern is known as a major threat from beyond the arc. With his length and smooth shooting, Braeden can change the game. His AAU season started this weekend in AZ and VanBockern has looked good on the defensive side of the ball. Going forward…if you leave Braeden alone it looks like you will be in trouble.
Highlights
He is gamechanger because of his length and mobile playmaking ability. Sam is a super-star athlete that had a fantastic junior season. Almas is a top-notch player and a DUDE on both ends. Tea played a difficult schedule and Almas always shined. Big things are ahead for Mr. Almas!
Highlights
First of all, he is a multi-year State Champion, and Jensen was a DAWG this year for the 23 win Class B State Champion. George is long, resilient, disciplined, courageous, and full of perseverance. Jensen is a 2-handed dunker and a lockdown defender. Get eyes on this kid now. PHD will certainly be watching next weekend at Prep Hoops LIVE. Jensen is an elite defender and I want to see how he handles top talent. Jensen is an intriguing prospect.
10 ppg, 51 rpg, 2.5 apg, 32.6 FG%. He improved a ton on the defensive side of the ball. Atwood worked hard in the weight room and his vertical grew. He made a difference by contesting shot, Andrew even blocked 7 shots in 1 game! His conditioning is elte, Atwood never gets tired! He known for his outside shot but led the Watchdogs in dunks this season. Atwood also improved his slashing ability. Look for Atwood to be “The Man” next year and for him to lead Beresford on offense and defense.
He and the Thunderhawks won 13 games this season. Meeter is a volume scorer that can light up the scoreboard! He dropped 54 points early in the season, very few people have scored 50 points in a single high school game. Kris is skilled and he can completely change the game with his offensive prowess. He hit 17 FT’s in a single game and broke an NLI Invitational record early in the year. His scoring range runs super deep but he can also score going to and at the rim. Meeter is a walking bucket!
Highlights
He put up some impressive stats in AA with 16 ppg, 6 rpg, 2 apg. Calling this kid tough, would be an understatement. Seth is strong/physical/wiry athlete. I like the looks of his jump shot and his feel for the game is impressive. Hamilton will hurt you from every level and I like his aggressiveness. He is a freight train on the way to the basket. Look for Seth to stand out on the defensive side of the ball. Hamilton is certainly a dual-threat player with a bright future ahead of him.
He helped the Cavaliers win 21 games and they reached the State Tournament. Coming from St. Thomas More, Uhlir is a tough and disciplined player. He is a smart player that can create off the bounce and score from the post. He is also a hard-nosed rebounder that refuses to be boxed out. Jordan is also a nice athlete that gets up and down the court in a hurry. He is a lefty, so that makes him a little more difficult to keep in front. I am looking forward to seeing Uhlir play at Battle at the Lakes in a few weeks.
