Brody Barber Brody Barber 6'1" | SF Mt. Lebanon | 2024 State PA | G | Mt Lebanon
A confident ballhandler with good size at 6’2″, Barber should be one of the top players in the South Hills next winter. He can break down defenders off the bounce and get to the rim with either hand. He’s got above average court vision and a solid understanding of the fundamentals of basketball. Good shooter coming off screens. Should compete for an All 6A spot next year and be of interest to PAC and AMCC types.
TJ Kubicsek | G | Chartiers Valley
A well built guard at 6’2″-190, Kubiscek can play inside-outside at the high school level. While he does a lot of work in the post for the Colts, colleges should keep an eye on him as more of a wing type player at the next level. He can shoot the ball pretty well and can also put it on the floor and get to the rim. As his ballhandling skills continue to expand, he’ll be a viable option for PAC and AMCC type programs to be following.
Major Rainey Major Rainey 6'3" | SG Allderdice | 2024 State PA | G | Allderdice
The bouncy 6’4″ slasher is without question, the top returning player in the City League for next season. An explosive athlete that Jerry Haslett would probably love to have playing wide receiver on his Dragons football team. He’s got a tight handle and gets to the rim with a quick first step. He is a high flier who can finish above the rim. Skilled slasher and backdoor player who can get points. Defensively, he’s active and a good on ball defender. Should be a favorite for City League Player Of The Year next winter. We should be able to argue that he go up 50+ spots by summer rankings time, as we said last time he was featured.
Torrien Perkins Torrien Perkins 6'2" | SG Obama Academy | 2024 State PA | G | Obama
Perkins came on as a junior after transfers hit the program. He emerged as a leader. The 6’3″ wing led the Eagles to the City final. He warms up as the game gets going. A skilled wing and well rounded player who can also battle for positioning in the post. A nice clean form on his jumper, he can elevate over defenders to get a clear look and also breaks down defenders well with the ball in his hands. With a good crop back, Obama could make noise next year and a City League Final rematch with ‘Dice is the early oddsmakers pick.
Logan Golle Logan Golle 6'1" | PG Taylor Allderdice | 2024 State PA | G | Allderdice
The top guard in the City League–and probably at any school inside the City Limits, public or private for the Class of 2024. Golle is an up tempo floor general. A heady passer and rock solid ballhandler. He’s a get at the rim kid who can also hit from deep. A must have for any high academic school. He and Rainey will complement each other well and those two, along with Perkins, will be the trio competing for POTY honors.
