Instead of game planning to dominate on the inside, teams now look to put players on the floor to hit 3’s to outscore their opponents. The 5 players listed in this article are some of the best outside shooters in the state of West Virginia. Each one has different intangibles that make them special players. They are all combo guards that are explosive and can shoot the ball. It will be fun to watch them evolve next season. 2024 will definitely be an exciting season in high school basketball in the state of West Virginia.
Nolan Carney
Nolan Carney
Nolan Carney is an exciting up and coming combo guard for Mount Hope Christian Academy in West Virginia. Carney shot 39% from 3-point range with 88 makes for Mount Hope Christian Academy. Carney averaged a respectable 17.2 points per game. He made quite the duo with Josiah McKoy in the backcourt. The duo played off each other and were unselfish night in and night out. Carney will definitely be a player to watch in 2024 and looks to continue his dominance from outside the arc for Mount Hope Christian Academy.

Josiah McKoy is a 6’0″ combo guard from Mount Hope Christian Academy. Mckoy is a stat stuffer and can fill up the box score in a hurry. He shot the 3-pointer at a 33% clip making 85 of them. McKoy can get to anywhere he wants to on the floor. His decision making is a big part of his game. The respect he gets from opposing defenses helps him create shots for himself as well as his teammates. McKoy has a high basketball IQ put together with unquestioned athleticism. He is a nightmare on the offensive end and looks to improve on his impressive overall game in 2024 for Mount Hope Christian Academy.

Silas Mattox is a combo guard from Pipestem Christian Academy in Pipestem, West Virginia. Mattox shot the 3-pointer at a 34% clip and buried 73 of them. He is a high scorer that can attribute most of his success to his outside shot. He can score at all 3 levels, but he is a consistent knockdown shooter on any given night. Mattox averaged 21.1 points per game as a sophomore and looks to take his game to the next level in 2024 for Trinity Christian High School.

Chayce Adams Chayce Adams 5’9″ | PG Trinity Christian | 2025 State WV is a 5’10” combo guard from Trinity Christian High School in Morgantown, West Virginia. Adams tickled the twine at a 31% average making 74 of the 3-pointers he shot. Adams is a scoring point guard that takes and makes shots at a high rate. His shooting touch helped him average 16.6 points per game. Adams looks to go into his junior campaign a more complete player and improve his stat line in 2024 for Trinity Christian High School.
Jaiden Gladney Jaiden Gladney 5’11” | PG Jefferson | 2024 State WV is an up-and-coming player in 2024 for Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia. Gladney shot the rock at a 38% clip from outside the arc making 71 of the 3-point shots he took. Gladney is an all-around talent and can handle his own on the court. He averaged 15.1 points per game and will look to continue his ever-improving game in 2024 for Jefferson High School.
