Names like five-star recruits Justin Edwards Justin Edwards 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2023 State #3 Nation PA , Rahmir Barno Rahmir Barno 5'10" | CG Imhotep Charter | 2023 State #223 Nation PA and Sultan Adewale Sultan Adewale 6'8" | SF Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State #205 Nation PA .
So today we scoured the Pennsylvania Class of 2023 rankings to find players who have impressed us but are not receiving enough love from college coaches, yet.
Below is a review of five talented southeastern Pennsylvania 2023 prospects who are somehow still “flying under the radar”. College coaches need to contact these players immediately.
#118… Elijah Hester Elijah Hester 5'11" | PG West Philadelphia | 2023 State PA – 5’11” / West Philadelphia / SK Elite / Point Guard: This 2nd Team All-Philly Public League selection is a creative primary ball handler with tremendous instincts. He can score at all 3-levels but thrives at attacking the rim and finishing through contact. He also does a solid job of facilitating for teammates. Last Saturday during the Speedboys 5A state tourney win over West Scranton, Hester was extremely impressive — 28 points (11 in 3rd quarter).
#148… Mazen Sayed Mazen Sayed 6'1" | PG Chichester | 2023 State PA – 6’1” / Chichester / Philly Pride Delco / Combo Guard: Sayed is a speedy, change of direction guard who is a walking bucket. This season he led Chichester to 21 wins and a 5A state tournament appearance. Over the last three games of his high school career, Sayed posted 23 points per night. Included in that outstanding stretch was a ridiculous35-point performance against basketball juggernaut Pocono Mountain West in the 1st Round of the 5A state tournament.
#151… Myles Grey Myles Grey 5'10" | CG Reading | 2024 PA – 5’10” / Reading / Team Final Red / Combo Guard: People who follow Reading hoops know how talented Grey (1st team All Berks-Conference selection) is, but the word on this kid needs to spread throughout the state. Grey (13 ppg.; 50 3PM) is tremendous shooting guard prospect who also dabbles with scoring off the bounce. Last weekend in Reading’s 6A 1st Round victory, Grey drilled 8 threes on his way to 30 points. This season Grey registered six games of 20 or more points.
#227… Bruce Smith Bruce Smith 6'2" | SF Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State PA – 6’2″ / Neumann-Goretti / BW Elite / Small Forward: Smith (8 ppg. & 4 rpg.; 37% on threes) is a remarkable “3 and D” prospect. Additionally, he is a beast on the glass. In the 2023 PCL championship game Smith made several key plays on the defensive end of the court while posting 12 points (2/4 on threes). Then in the District 12-4A Championship game vs. Overbrook, Smith came up huge for NG — 16points 4/6 on threes.
#261… Josh Cameron Josh Cameron 6'7" | SF Hill School | 2023 State PA – 6’7″ / Hill School / Riverside Hawks / Small Forward: Hill’s lineup features several high-level perimeter prospects. So the long and physical Cameron’s point production comes mainly in two ways. The first is from finding space around the rim, catching drop passes and powering through contact for a hoop. The second is from being a tireless worker on the offensive glass. Recently Cameron notched 12 points in Hill’s PAISSA state tourney quarterfinals win over Penn Charter.
