The big boys, Class 4A was filled with riveting games Tuesday night.

Here’s a look at who made it through in 4A:

Region 1
Morristown West – Dobyns-Bennett
Sevier County – Daniel Boone

Prediction:

REGION 2
Karns – William Blount

Karns won 17 of their last 19 games and 7 in a row. Aiden Goins is a singular basketball player, completely unique. Goins is a 6-foot-8, 325-pound-ish lefty shooter/shot-blocker. Until you see him play you have no idea what to expect. William Blount is exceedingly better composed and prepared to defend and attack the behemoth. Oak Ridge was wholly ineffective driving at him and shooting over him. The Governors are bigger and stronger.

J.J. Faulkner

William Blount entered Thursday 30-4. Defeating Bearden was perhaps more impressive than the Karns win. #3 Bubba Faulkner
#11 Jaylen Roberts Jaylen Roberts Jaylen Roberts 6'3" | SG Karns | 2023 State TN
Walker Lockhart
Aiden Goins* (2023)

Oak Ridge Starters
#10 Brennen Scott Brennen Scott Brennen Scott 6'1" | PG Oak Ridge | 2024 State TN
#4 Grayson Strader
#11 Ray’quan Watson Ray’quan Watson 5'9" | PG Oak Ridge | 2025 State TN (2025)
SF Kaden Brightharp* (2024) 6’0″
#35 C Cooper Williams (2023)

Prediction: William Blount HS by 8 points.
This is the best William Blount team ever. Karns is really fun to watch, and J.J. Faulkner is simply breathtaking in the open floor. The Governors get massive scoring from Caden Windle Caden Windle Caden Windle 6'5" | SF William Blount | 2024 State TN . Teammate Grady Robertson Grady Robertson Grady Robertson 6'4" | PG William Blount | 2024 State TN is a well-rounded two-way player with nice balance. Attacking from multiple places on the floor, Robertson finds great success.

REGION 3

McMinn County – Franklin County
Walker Valley – Cleveland

Prediction:

REGION 4

Blackman
LaVergne – Rockvale
Prediction:

REGION 5

Green Hill is a fantastic defensive team. Jason Burch Jason Burch Jason Burch 6'5" | C Green Hill | 2023 State TN , Kenny Ellis Kenny Ellis Kenny Ellis 5'11" | PG Green Hill | 2024 State TN . Parker Overath Parker Overath 6'1" | PG Green Hill | 2023 State TN . Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly 6'5" | SG Green Hill | 2025 State TN . All four outperform the mean for their respective positions.

Prediction: Green Hill by 4 points.
Can Hendersonville High hang? Yes. For a while. Expect the Commandos to play some zone defense, which might slow Jason Burch Jason Burch Jason Burch 6'5" | C Green Hill | 2023 State TN a touch. Still, the green-clad men defend better individually and rebound more staunchly.

T.J. Kolbe put up 18 points in their win over Lebanon, and Kolbe will be the most difficult player for Green Hill to slow. Kolbe shoots very well from the arc, and does not force shots, making him quite efficient.

Green Hill Head Coach Troy Allen raves about the defensive commitment of senior Parker Overath Parker Overath 6'1" | PG Green Hill | 2023 State TN .

Kenny Ellis Kenny Ellis Kenny Ellis 5'11" | PG Green Hill | 2024 State TN will outplay Ty Lannom Ty Lannom Ty Lannom 6'0" | PG Hendersonville | 2023 State TN on both ends. Defensively, Ellis irritates with his close chest-to-chest style. Nobody is quicker side-to-side. What he gives up in height to bigger guards will not be exploited in the Hendersonville-Green Hill matchup. Hudson Gill Hudson Gill Hudson Gill 6'6" | SF Hendersonville | 2024 State TN is a wonderful wing forward player, and ordinarily he would have a physical advantage, but Hawk sophomore Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly Aaron Mattingly 6'5" | SG Green Hill | 2025 State TN is the same height essentially and stronger physically. Gill must use his elegance in the air and movement off-the-ball to create chances. Of the 10 points Gill scored against Lebanon, four came off of made free throws.

REGION 6 Semifinals
Hillsboro – Ravenwood
Independence – Nolensville

REGION 7 Semifinals
Rossview – Clarksville
Dickson County – Clarksville Northwest

REGION 8

Memphis Overton – Memphis East

Memphis Overton survives, defeats Collierville, 73-71. Xavier Alexander led the Wolverines with 24 points. Jordan Frison finished with 19. Jailen Hardaway, who played solid defense tonight, had 13.

— Courtney Asher Smith (@CourtneyHoops90) March 1, 2023

Prediction: Memphis East by 7.
The swiftness with which Overton reloaded and thrived a year after losing multiple, seemingly-critical starters astounds. Jordan Frison Jordan Frison Jordan Frison 6'0" | PG Overton | 2023 State TN is great. He will be great. Likely, Alijah Curry Alijah Curry Alijah Curry 6'8" | PF Memphis East | 2024 State TN will go off. East plays a little faster than most teams, especially the squads from outside of the “901.”

Xavier Alexander is coming off of a monster 24-point game in a narrow 73-71 point win over Collierville. The Wolverines need him to supplement the guaranteed Frison 20-piece.
