The event will be held at Clark University in Worcester, MA this year, and the games start at 10 AM on Wednesday and it will be a bracket style play with a consolation bracket for teams to play at least 3 games.
There are so many talented players and teams in this year’s event, we’ll be looking at some of the players to watch in each area the teams are coming from. Here’s a look at part 3 of some of the players from New England schools.
You can watch the entire tournament here on the CBG Live Network.
Elmarko Jackson | 6’3” PG | South Kent ’23
The Kansas commit is one of the most talented players in the country, and he was a big reason for South Kent winning the NEPSAC AAA championship this year. He’s a fantastic athlete with a strong frame and is very explosive when he gets downhill and is able to play above the rim, he’s a dog defensively as he can stay in front and is a good help side defender and he can both score it and create for others with the ball in his hands.
Papa Kante | 6’8” PF | South Kent ’23
The Michigan commit is one of the epitome of a new style big man with his athleticism, mobility and his skill set that allows him to impact the game in number of different ways. The 6’8” forward is able to get up and down the floor and is a big time finisher above the rim, he’s great as a screener as he can dive and pop and he’s able to slip for easy buckets and he can size his man up and take him off the bounce in the short post too.
Nate Guerengomba | 6’5” WG | South Kent ’24
Gurengomba left South Kent at the beginning of the season but returned a little after that, and since he’s been back they’ve been perhaps the best team in the NEPSAC since December. He’s an all-around wing who can knock down shots from all 3 levels, he can play on or off the ball and knows how to work to get open and create space and defensively he’s strong and has long arms to get deflections and turn defense into offense.
TJ Power | 6’8” PF | Worcester Academy ’23
The Duke commit is another new age big man that’s a walking mismatch as he has great ball skills on the perimeter and he can both stretch the floor and use his size to finish in the paint as well. The 6’8” forward can stretch the floor both on sets and in pick-and-pop situations, he can post up smaller defenders and hit the offensive glass and he’s got a feathery touch from all over the floor making him very tough to stop as he can rise over defenders and make tough shots.
Tre Norman | 6’3” PG | Worcester Academy ’23
Norman is one of the best scoring guards in the country, and the Marquette commit has been fantastic all year setting the tone and getting after it for this talented Worcester team. The 6’3” guard is well-built and strong and can get downhill and finish through contact, he creates space well and gets into his shot quickly to knock down shots in late shot clock situations and he can make plays for others off the bounce as well.
Kavaun Mulready | 6’6” F | Worcester Academy ‘23
Mulready is pretty much the high school version of Draymond Green, as he may be a little undersized and positionless but he impacts the game in so many different ways with his blend of strength, athleticism and skill. He plays with a great motor and can guard almost every position on the floor, he’s a big time athlete who can play above the rim effortlessly on either end of the floor and he’s a mismatch with his ability to take guys off the bounce and knock down shots too.
