In this piece we detail some of the top performers we saw at the event.
Brycen Mackenzie, 2024, Gamepoint
Mackenzie is one of the top overall prospects in San Diego’s 2024 class and his performances this weekend didn’t change that one bit. The 6-foot-1 point guard is great at controlling tempo while also pushing the pace and being the lead ball-handler and distributor for his Gamepoint 17s team. Mackenzie is more known for is ability to get into the paint off the bounce and finish around the basket or kick to shooters but he showed impressive shooting touch from three-point range in this event.
Chris Holland, 2025, Riverside Matrix
Holland is the younger brother of former Fresno State forward Anthony Holland and looks like he could be a next-level player himself in a couple of years. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard was one of the purest perimeter shooters we saw on the weekend. His deep and consistent range combined with his smooth, fluid and fundamental mechanics makes him a prospect for programs to track over the next couple of seasons.
Dorell Desiree, 2024, Salt Lake Rebels
Desiree was one of the more active and athletic forwards in this event and his motor, combined with quick twitch athleticism and willingness to rebound and defend are what earned him a spot on this list. The 6-foot-8 lefty proved to be a high-rate rebounder in and out of his area, switchable defender in ball-screen action and he showed the ball skills and coordination to get downhill off the bounce and finish above the rim.
Isaiah Valenzuela, 2024, Los Angeles Elite
When the conversation of best shooters in this event comes up Valenzuela has to be up near the top of the list. The 6-foot-1 guard allows the three-ball to fly with confidence and hits from multiple spots and ranges of the floor. What makes Valenzuela such an effective shooter is his ability to pull both off the catch and off the bounce both from distance and the mid-range areas of the floor.
