With so many of their programs having ties to international players it’s common for newcomer to make waves throughout the state. Last year Central Pointe Christian was loaded with gems this year it was DME Academy. Let’s breakdown the games of newly ranked players around the state.
Djobet stepped on the scene, receiving good reviews from national scouts. The 6’6 off guard is an athletic downhill scorer that mucks the game up in many areas. He’s a physical defender, rebounds well for his position, and has a knack for pushing the pace. Djobet’s had games where he was dialed in from the midrange. He’s one of the best unsigned recruits in the state.
The British talent came to the US with U18 international experience and a big game against the biggest name (Bronny James) in the 2023 class. There are few players that combine physicality and athleticism the way Davis does. He’s consistently putting pressure on the rim with drives to the rim. Davis gets to free throw line at a high rate. Teams looking for athletic guard’s with mature frame, above average basketball IQ, playmaking, and efficient scoring.
Vukicevic may be the best shooter in the state. The 6’6 wing has several games with four or more made threes including a 38 point performance where he hit 9 of 15 shots from deep. He’s automatic off the catch and off movement. The unsigned senior has flashed shotmaking off screens. He may not be the most athletic, but he has crafty finishes and scores through contact.
The skilled 6-9 forward is a part of DME’s SIAA championship team. He fills the lane in transition, can attack bigs in straight line drives, and has great measurables. He’s a good playmaker that can penetrate from the perimeter and make passes to open players with speed and accuracy. Folguieras has a good handle in the open floor and has the vision to make plays for others in transition. If you’re looking for a player to operate out of the high post or thrive in a five out system, look no further.
Ruutel is a sleeper in the class of 2023. The Estonian forward had experience with the international play but chose to spend his senior year in the states. He’s 6-8 with next level athleticism and range to the college three. Ruutel gets downhill with a quick first step. He finishes above the rim with ease in transition. Ruutel will put you on a defender if you underestimate him. He doesn’t have a ton of wiggle to his game but can handle the ball on the perimeter and create for himself. The unsigned senior is a good cutter. Whoever lands Ruutel is getting an athletic wing with a promising skillset.
