Davis has put up huge numbers for the last few years for the Pirates, and he was arguably the player that I was most excited to see at this event. He did not disappoint. A smooth athlete with a great frame, he can do a little bit of everything on the floor for his team. He’s a good ball handler who can initiate offense for his team, using his solid size and court vision to get his teammates involved. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor, provides some defensive versatility, and is a capable three-level scorer with a pure stroke. He knows how to get to his spots, using the combination of his size, physicality, and quality footwork to create some space to get his shot off. In terms of frame, IQ, talent, and versatility, he may have been the best prospect in the gym.
SF Nate Stroud (Mount Pleasant | 2024)
Stroud jumped out immediately with his shooting and excellent size at 6-5. He showed the ability to create his own shot, getting to his spot and elevating into his jumper, and he also showed a smooth stroke off the catch with good off-ball movement. He has a high release and a pure stroke.

Kennedy (pictured) was a solid role player for Senior this past year, but he showed why he can be relied upon to be a major contributor as a senior next year, impacting the game on both ends of the floor on Saturday. He put the ball on the floor and was able to get to the rim routinely for finishes, attacking overly aggressive closeouts. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and showed the ability to pull down a defensive rebound and lead the break, showing good handles and court vision. He takes pride in his defense as well, picking up ball handlers full court and making them work. On at least two occasions that I saw, he picked the ball handler clean in the backcourt and got an easy layup out of it.
SG Jack Wynter Jack Wynter 6'3" | SG Ames | 2024 State IA (Ames | 2024)
Wynter was a tremendous role player on Ames’ 2022 state championship team, took a leap into being a leader this past high school season, and continued that strong play on Saturday afternoon, continuing to put his improved playmaking and shot creating on display. A long, 6-1/6-2 guard who has really improved his ball handling over the last year, he now pairs that ability to get to his own shot, or create for his teammates, with one of the purest strokes in the state. He’s a strong team defender who uses his length effectively on the defensive end.

Probably the most accomplished player in the gym on Saturday, Cooley was dominant when I watched him play. An athletic, long 6-4 wing, he had one four-possession stretch in which he showcased a little bit of everything in his arsenal. A steal and dunk, followed by a catch in the corner and a baseline drive and finish through contact. He followed that with a post touch on the next possession and showed court vision to find a cutting teammate on the opposite side of the floor for an easy layup, and then he got out in transition and ran the floor for a finish. He showed his passing, his defense, his rebounding, his ability to put the ball on the floor, and his finishing. Pretty much the only thing I didn’t see was his jumper, which I already know is pretty solid.
