Flash Evaluations (Class AAA Quarters)
All four Class AAA teams played Tuesday, including Ridgeway versus Chester County.
Ridgeway (40) vs. Chester County (36)
Brian Carter Jr. Brian Carter Jr. 6'6" | SG Ridgeway | 2024 State TN (Ridgeway)
Solid game. Brian hit a big three-pointer when the team was lifeless offensively in the third quarter. Importantly, Carter made two free throws in the final 10 seconds to wrap it up in a bow. Carter scored from many places on the floor. Entered the game averaging 19.1 ppg. Standing 6-foot-5, he is an attractive college basketball prospect. Class of 2024.
Chance Thompson (Chester County)
Thin wing. Listed 6-foot-4. Thompson dribbled under a little pressure with some nice poise. If he can be a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, then the world is his oyster. Thompson
Amaria Massengill (Chester County)
Suspect with the dribble. Massengill’s mid-4th turnover cost his team two points, and possibly created a four-point swing. Massengill’s strength, both upper and lower body, made him a serviceable high school forward. Of course, there is no market for 6-foot-2 forwards beyond high school. The turnover was not reflective of the totality of his contributions, but it did reveal weakness.
Chad Barham (Chester County)
Nice passer. Clearly a forward at 6-foot-4. The team likes him making decisions in the backcourt.
Aidan Welch (Chester County)
Rattled by the purposefully frenetic Ridgeway defense. Welch is a sophomore, and the moment was decidedly enormous. Consider both in this evaluation. A point guard, in the postseason especially, must provide a semblance of stability, poise. Welch lacked that against Ridgeway Tuesday afternoon.
Jarquan Wilkins (Ridgeway)
Exceptional quickness. Great on-ball the defender in this particular game. Made an enormous pair of free throws with under a minute to play. Then, he missed an enormous front end with 0:22 left, up two points. Wilkins is a disruptive defender.
