Davies Eagles-Soaring Talent

Which Class A team seems to go to State every year? Fargo Davies! The Eagles and coach Manson have actually gone to State every year that they have had a varsity team except in 2018. Talk about consistency and continued success! In 2014 the Eagles won the State Championship and in 2019 they took 2nd place. Davies will likely be one of the heavy favorites to win it all over the next two years.

The varsity squad had a wild year while going 24-3 and they finished 3rd at State. Their star sophomore Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State ND had a couple of injuries this season, which caused Klabo to miss games at the start of the season and at the end. Once Klabo went down, you would think that the Eagles would have taken a nose dive. The Eagles stayed strong and continued to dominate. They won the EDC Regular Season and the EDC Tournament. This team shot the ball at a historic rate. The Eagles made 262 triples and set a new Davies record!

The varsity team is not the only squad that saw success. The Eagle freshmen finished 2nd in the EDC Tournament and the C-Team won the Championship. The C-Team won it all with major contributions from 3 talented 9th graders. The JV squad was 19-3 with a second-place finish to Fargo South. The future of Eagles basketball looks radiantly BRIGHT!

The varsity season did not end exactly how they wanted but it was still one heck of a season.

The high school season just ended but I am excited to watch the Eagle players in AAU hoops and then in June they will be active doing Davies team events.

It is a bit early but I expect the Eagles to be a Top 5 team heading into next season and they will likely be #1 or #2 in the preseason rankings. How can you bet against Manson, Klabo, and a loaded program with skilled athletes?

Q&A with coach Bart Manson

PHD: How would you sum up the season for your squad?

Coach Manson: “We had a great season this past year. Going 24-3 and winning the Regular Season and EDC Championship were certainly highlights for us. We shot the ball extremely well from the 3-point line this past season making 262 of them. That set a new school record for 3’s in a season.“

PHD: Do you have any fun memories from the season that happened off the court?

Coach Manson: “All of the fun memories come from off-the-court stuff with the guys. Bus trips, locker room talks, and social gatherings are my favorite memories of the season. Senior night is also a special night because we get to recognize those guys one more time at Davies High School.“

PHD: What were some of the highlights on the hardwood that stick out?

Coach Manson: “We had some great individual events this past season.  Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State ND had a 47-point game. Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND and Daniel Yorke Daniel Yorke 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND playing some of the best basketball that I have ever seen them play down the stretch for us.  Alpha Camara Alpha Camara 6'5" | SF Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND had some highlight dunks and blocks this year. However, the biggest highlights are watching all of the guys improve over the course of the season.  Cole Callies Cole Callies 5'11" | SG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , Riley Hanson, Max Mitzel Max Mitzel 6'2" | SG Davies | 2023 State ND , Jaxon Beiswenger Jaxon Beiswenger 6'4" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND , Kemani Davis Kemani Davis 6'3" | SF Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND grew a lot this year to help us win a lot of ball games.“

PHD: How did your team overcome adversity?

Coach Manson: “We had a lot of guys step up and contribute this season. We played a lot of games due to injury or sickness from multiple guys this year and for us to win 24 games is a credit to how deep our program is.“

PHD: What are a few things your team improved on over the course of the season?

Coach Manson: “I thought that our team defense was our biggest improvement over the course of the year. We have been always a great offensive team, but this year our defense won us a lot of games.“

PHD: Who are a couple of role players that stood out to you?

Coach Manson: “ Jaxon Beiswenger Jaxon Beiswenger 6'4" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND , Cole Callies Cole Callies 5'11" | SG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , Riley Hanson, and Max Mitzel Max Mitzel 6'2" | SG Davies | 2023 State ND all played a big role for us this past season. Those guys combined for 129 3’s on the season for an average of 36%.“

PHD: Can you talk about your seniors and what will be missed?

Coach Manson: “Riley Hanson, Kemani Davis Kemani Davis 6'3" | SF Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , Cole Callies Cole Callies 5'11" | SG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , Max Mitzel Max Mitzel 6'2" | SG Davies | 2023 State ND , Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND , Max Froslie Max Froslie 6'8" | PF Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND . Those guys made such a big impact on the program over the past 4 years. They were 9th-grade EDC Champions, Won the JV league as juniors, and were a big part of being back-to-back EDC Champions. They are not only going to be missed for their play, but they will be missed for how great of individuals they are.” 

PHD: Who are some up-and-comers to look out for in the future?

Coach Manson: “ Jaxon Beiswenger Jaxon Beiswenger 6'4" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND , Peter Havelka Peter Havelka 6'6" | PF Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND , and Nick Hasbargen Nick Hasbargen 6'1" | SF Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND are guys that came on at the end of the year and really made an impact offensively and defensively.“

PHD: “I know it’s early, but what are the plans for the offseason? 

Coach Manson: “We will have a busy June again with many team camps. Still working on the schedule.“
