Several of the top prospects in the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 are already showing out at a high level and that was certainly true even on the big Semi-State stage. Several freshmen and sophomores contributed to not only their teams getting to that point, but, in some cases, advancing on to play for a state championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Here are five freshmen or sophomore prospects who impressed our Prep Hoops Indiana staff during Semi-State.
Bryson Cardinal (Guerin Catholic 2025): A 6’6″ prospect with huge upside, Cardinal played a major role in advancing Guerin Catholic to the Class 3A state championship game. He started the day off with 15 points and 8 rebounds to knock off defending champion Beech Grove. Then, Cardinal scored 8 points while pulling down 10 rebounds in their win over Scottsburg. Keep a close eye on this prospect heading into the summer.
Cayden Loescher (Indianapolis Lutheran 2025): Lutheran has a few talented sophomore on their roster, but it was Loescher on Saturday who came through in a major way to help lead the Saints to the Class 1A state championship game. Loescher had 14 points and 8 rebounds in their 67-66 morning win over #5 Loogootee. He then followed it up with 11 points in a 55-47 victory against Rock Creek Academy. Lutheran will play Southwood in the title game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
BT Luce (Parke Heritage H.S. 2025)/ Treigh Schelsky Treigh Schelsky 6'0" | PG Parke Heritage | 2026 State IN (Parke Heritage H.S. 2026): Luce poured in nine three-pointers on his way to a game-high 27 points, but Parke Heritage fell to Linton-Stockton 87-59. The sophomore can absolutely stroke it from beyond the arc and that was clearly shown to be true on Saturday morning. As for Schelsky, the talented freshman finished off a spectacular first season scoring 18 points for the Wolves.
Kellen Pickett Kellen Pickett 6'9" | PF Blackhawk Christian | 2025 State #108 Nation IN (Blackhawk Christian 2025): Pickett really burst onto the scene this season as a major contributor for Blackhawk Christian. At Saturday’s Semi-State he dominated in the morning session against Gary 21st Century scored 26 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. He backed it up with 10 points and 5 rebounds to advance to the state championship with a win over Lewis Class. At 6’8″ with a versatile skill set, Pickett has blossomed into one of the top prospects in the class.
Tyler Raasch Tyler Raasch 6'8" | C NorthWood | 2025 State IN (NorthWood H.S. 2025): This 6’8″ sophomore prospect is full of long-term potential.
