There were a handful of starts who saw their seasons come to an end on Saturday while a handful of others will move on play one last game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a state championship on the line. Here are five seniors who stood out to our Prep Hoops Indiana staff during the Semi-State round.
Cade Brenner Cade Brenner 6'3" | SG NorthWood | 2023 State IN (NorthWood H.S.): Brenner scored a game-high 24 points in the Panthers morning victory over Bishop Dwenger and then came back to help lead them once again in their 51-36 win over Delta to punch a ticket to the Class 3A state championship. The Huntington signee is an excellent all-around offensive player that has led #1 ranked NorthWood all season long. They will take on Guerin Catholic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Josh Furst Josh Furst 6'6" | C Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN / Gage Sefton Gage Sefton 6'4" | SG Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN (Blackhawk Christian): Admittedly, this is kind of cheating combining these two stars into one spot, but they complimented each other so well to send Blackhawk Christian back to the Class 2A state championship game. 6’6″ senior forward Josh Furst Josh Furst 6'6" | C Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN began the day with a 30-point, 6-rebound performance as the Braves took down Gary 21st Century. Then, in the championship game, Grace College signee Gage Sefton Gage Sefton 6'4" | SG Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN stepped up with 29 points in their win over Lewis Cass. It was an outstanding day for both of these seniors.
Sheridan Sharp Sheridan Sharp 6'2" | PG Ben Davis | 2023 State IN (Ben Davis H.S.): Ben Davis is such a balanced team that you typically don’t see one individual go off for a massive stat line. However, in the first game of Semi-State on Saturday this Nicholls State signee poured in 31 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the Giants 78-55 win over Bloomington North. Sharp has been a major piece of the dominant Ben Davis backcourt that will look to finish off a perfect season against Kokomo in the Class 4A state championship game.
Logan Webb Logan Webb 6'3" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State IN (Linton-Stockton H.S.): There couldn’t possibly have been an unsigned senior who did more for their potential college recruitment on Saturday than Webb. Always known as a key contributor for the Class 2A #1 Miners, Webb scored 24 points in the semifinal before pouring in 28 points to help Linton-Stockton defeat Brownstown Central 64-56. Webb is an excellent catch-and-shoot threat with the athleticism and physicality it takes to step in right away at the next level.
Cole Winer (Southwood H.S.): After beginning the day with 21 points, tying his classmate Nathan Lehner for the team-high in a 63-57 win over Fountain Central, Winer followed it up with 19 points and 7 rebounds as the Knights knocked off Marquette Catholic 64-56 to advance to the state finals.
