Not only the best player in the state of Indiana, the 6’10” Bigunda is a consensus five-star, Top 5 prospect in the country. However, it is still to be determined how good the current junior class is as a whole. On Saturday at the Semi-State sites across Indiana several of those prospects stepped up on the big postseason stage with a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on the line. Here are five Class of 2024 players who stood out the most to our Prep Hoops Indiana staff.
Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN (Brownstown Central H.S.): This Class of 2024 Purdue commit came up just short of a miraculous comeback against Linton-Stockton in the Semi-State championship game. Benter poured in 19 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 32 points but came up short losing to the #1 Miners 64-56. The talented guard scored a game-high 18 points in Brownstown’s morning victory over Scecina. He finishes the season averaging right at 29 points per game.
Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN (Kokomo H.S.): Recently named Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year, Bidunga certainly showed why he is widely considered one of the top prospects in the entire country on Saturday. The 6’10” center started the day off with a 31-point, 19-rebounds, 8-block performance in a 73-51 win over Fort Wayne Wayne. Then, in a high anticipated Semi-State championship matchup against #2 ranked Penn, Bidunga finished with 25 points, 22 rebounds, and 5 blocks for the Wildkats. While going 23-32 from the field on the day and averaging an insane 28 points, 20.5 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks, Bidunga also went over the 1,000 point milestone in just his second season at Kokomo.
Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN (Guerin Catholic): The Golden Eagles leading scorer on the season stepped up when they needed it most on Saturday. Sorensen was a big part of allowing Guerin Catholic to pull away in the championship game against Scottsburg scoring a game-high 25 points including 5-7 shooting from beyond the arc. He also scored 8 points in the morning game to knock off defending Class 3A state champion Beech Grove. Guerin Catholic has now won 8 straight games heading into the state championship game against #1 ranked NorthWood.
K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN (Ben Davis H.S.): Windham didn’t put up the stats that these other juniors did on Saturday, but his contributions to the 32-0 Ben Davis Giants are equally as impressive. The sweet-shooting left-hander scored 7 points in their convincing 78-55 win over Bloomington North in the morning and then poured in all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter of a 66-38 win over Brownsburg. Windham is an excellent defender, offers a constant shooting threat when he is on the floor, and contributes to winning just as every member of this dominant Ben Davis team does.
Jackson Wors (Delta H.S.): This versatile 6’4″ wing put up back-to-back 16 point performances on Saturday as the Eagles came up just short of a trip to the state championship. Wors led Delta in scoring in their hard-fought 50-47 win over John Glenn in the opening round before doing it again as they came roaring back against #1 NorthWood in the final. It was an impressive day for the junior while going up against two teams with good interior talent.
