Continue ReadingThe end of the high school season is the best time to throw a fresh update on class rankings and our latest 2024 update went live on Monday. In this piece we take a look at some of the top newcomers to our 2024 rankings which include some players who were in SoCal already and had big seasons and some who moved into the area and proved their worth.
Brian Amunueke Brian Amunueke 6'4" | SF Rancho Christian | 2024 State CA-S , Rancho Christian, Debut Rank: 77
Amunueke broke into the Rancho Christian rotation with his defensive presence, energy and effort on both ends of the floor and his ability to get out and finish in transition. The wiry 6-foot-4 wing has a chance to be even more of a focal point for the Eagles next season.
Xavier Clinton Xavier Clinton 6'4" | SG Damien | 2024 State CA-S , Damien, Debut Rank: 82
Clinton was Damien’s best perimeter scoring presence this season. The 6-foot-3 wing averaged 13.5 points per game and shot 40 percent from three-point range. Clinton seems to us like a late-bloomer special that college programs should keep an eye on heading into the spring and summer.
Ryan Osborne Ryan Osborne 6'2" | SF Bosco Tech | 2024 State CA-S , Bosco Tech, Debut Rank: 83
Osborne put together an impressive individual season in addition to being a key cog in his team’s success. The 6-foot-3 forward does a little bit of everything: He can score on the block, hit open shots, pass and find teammates from multiple spots on the floor and he rebounds well for his size and position. Osborne averaged 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while leading Bosco Tech to a CIF Southern Section Division 5AA title.
Jordan Houegban Jordan Houegban 6'1" | SG Brentwood | 2024 State CA-S , Brentwood, Debut Rank: 84
Houegban was a light’s out shooter for Brentwood this season. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard averaged 15.7 points per game and knocked down 124 of his 293 three-point field goals, good for 42 percent from deep. You’d be hard-pressed to find another guy in the state who posted shooting numbers like that. Houegban ranked third in the state in three-point makes among teams who recorded and uploaded stats to MaxPreps.
Jonas De Krassel Jonas De Krassel 6'4" | SF Loyola | 2024 State CA-S , Loyola, Debut Rank: 86
De Krassel is a nice floor spreading wing with consistent shooting range from multiple spots behind the three-point line. The 6-foot-4 junior is a big time shooter off the catch when given time and space.
