William Patterson, 7’0 C Patrick School
Patterson is the highest ranked newcomer in the update, checking in at number 19. The Syracuse commit is a presence in the paint as he uses his length to swat almost everything around the rim. Patterson attacks the offensive glass strong as opponents struggle to keep him off the boards and can finish around the basket. He is developing his shooting range and sets solid screens in the half court. Patterson is a long, shot-blocker whose ability to protect the paint will be key for him getting early playing time at Syracuse.
DeAndre Williams DeAndre Williams 6'4" | SG St. Benedict's | 2023 State NJ , 6’2 SG St. Benedict’s
Williams had a strong season for the Gray Bees as he showed his ability to make plays at both ends of the floor. The 6’2 guard has a good handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and can finish around the rim. Williams makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and rises up with confidence on his jumper. He is a pesky on-ball defender as he moves his feet and uses his quick hands to get steals. Williams is one of the top available guards in the 2023 class and will make a college program very happy next season.
Jahlil Bethea Jahlil Bethea 6'3" | CG Ranney School | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 CG Ranney School
Bethea put up big scoring numbers for the Panthers this season, despite having to miss the first 11 games of the season. The 6’3 lefty is at his best attacking the basket as he routinely drew contact and finishes nicely at the rim. Bethea uses his dribble to create separation from his defender and can knock down jumpers on the perimeter. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his athleticism to make plays on defense. Bethea is a slashing guard prospect who can put up points in bunches on any given night.
Mario Castro-Sanchez Mario Castro-Sanchez 6'0" | PG Gill St. Bernard's | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 PG Gill St. Bernard’s
Castro-Sanchez had a big season for the Knights as he established himself as one of the state’s top shooters. The 6’0 guard has a lighting quick release on his jumper and can shoot either off the catch or dribble. Castro-Sanchez did more than just shoot as he can also get to the rim and finish creatively. He is a good passer and is able to get deflections on the defensive end. Castro-Sanchez is a sharpshooting guard prospect who had monster games for Gill St. Bernard’s throughout 2022-23.
Luke Paragon Luke Paragon 6'4" | SG Blair Academy | 2023 State NJ , 6’4 SG Blair Academy
Paragon had a solid season for the Buccaneers as he provided them with another scoring option on the perimeter. The Brown commit has a clean release on his jumper as he wastes little motion and sets his feet before he shoots. Paragon moves well without the ball in his hands and is very unselfish. He works for rebounds on both ends of the floor and is an underrated defender. Paragon is a hard-working guard prospect who can knock down shots and make good decisions with the ball in his hands.
