Here is the 2023 1A Div. I All-Tournament Team:
PG – Jordy Dolloff Jordy Dolloff 5'10" | PG Wichita Classical | 2023 State KS , 6-foot guard, 2023, Wichita Classical:
The longtime leader of the Saints took his fourth-place seeded team to the brink of a championship. He scored, directed traffic and dealt out an impressive 18 assists in the three games. Dolloff scored 51 points and was only contained in the final game by the deep and athletic Macksville stable of guards. Dolloff hit 24-30 free throws.
SG – (tie) Truman Bailey Truman Bailey 6'3" | SG Olpe | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2023, Olpe, and Rogelio Ibarra, 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Macksville:
After contributing to back-to-back championship teams, Bailey was slowed down this tournament. But with a lot of the scoring load on his shoulders and defenses out to stop him, he still managed to score 59 points in the tournament. He converted 17-20 free throws. Ibarra led the champion Mustangs in scoring over the three days. The senior matched Bailey’s 59 points.
SF – Joseph Dyck, 6-foot-2 forward 2024, South Gray:
Dyck was the revelation of the tournament. He came in as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, but he put his talents on full display in Dodge City. The junior went crazy in the third place game against Olpe, scoring 34 points and dropping 5-7 from deep. For the tournament, Dyck hit 25-39 shots and led all scorers with 65 points. He also led the team in rebounding in two of the games, including 14 against Olpe.
PF – Lance Lickiss, 6-foot-2 forward, 2023, Macksville:
What a way to end a career! Lickiss has been a solid performer for the last few years for Macksville, but hasn’t gotten a lot of recognition for his efforts. But when the opportunity for a title presented itself, Lickiss was huge. He scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the semifinal win over South Gray. Then he came back to score 20 points, collect 12 rebounds and record 5 assists in the championship game over Wichita Classical.
C – (tie) Ryan Kuckelman Ryan Kuckelman 6'6" | PF Macksville | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-6 center, 2023, Macksville, and Carter Sinclair, 6-foot-4 center, 2023, Wichita Classical:
The championship game featured a battle between two of 1A’s best big men. The Mustangs came out on top, but both these centers deserve recognition on the All-Tournament Team. Sinclair had a huge first-round game against Elyria Christian, getting 21 points and 14 rebounds. He finished the tournament with 38 points. Kuckelman was solid and consistent as usual. He held down the back line of the Mustang defense and hit 9-15 shots to record 28 points.
