Ygnacio Valley got the home victory over a stubborn Alhambra team 56-52. Here are the players who played well on Saturday
The 6’10 2024 Center is making good progress as a post player. He has presence in the paint on the defensive side of the ball, changing and blocking shots. His offensive footwork is better, his jump hook, and drop step are going in. Adding more strength to go with his length, his stock should go up. 15pts, 7rebs, 5blks.
Loyal Morris
Loyal Morris
It’s something about those guys that play well off two feet. Loyal is that guy. He’s an athletic high flyer who stands at 6’2 maybe, and jump with the best of them off two feet. He’s strong with a thick body and just attacks the rim in the paint. He runs the court, makes good cuts to the rim and finished with power going up for rebounds and points. 8pts, 5rebs, 2asts.
He’s a stock riser in the 2025 class. The long, slick handling baller brings a level of confidence to the court. He has speed, and quickness with the ball, a good first step to get by defenders. He can handle the point guard position. His passing, and ability to get into the paint for floaters, jumpers and kick outs were noticeable. He hit key buckets throughout the game, corner 3’s, and pull-up jumpers. He’s a long armed defender with good lateral movement. 16pts, 4-3’s, and a charge.
Jalan Cody
Jalan Cody
He’s a newcomer to our 2026 class. The Freshman plays a key role off the bench. He plays within the game, he played the wing and at the high post turning and taking it strong, he can hit the short jumper. He’s a thick body that can handle, he makes good decisions, and handles contact on the drive. 8pts
The 6’10 Unsigned Center did well in a match-up against a player his size. He has good balance, he had a couple of one hard dribbles, and up strong in the paint for points. His jump hook, drop step, and paint jumper looked good with a high release. He’s stronger and is filling his frame. He has an improving skill set for the post area. His 15pts, 10rebs, 3asts, 3blks. Geo Albers
Geo Albers
The hard playing newcomer takes it strong whenever he goes to the basket, in transition, or using a dribble from the perimeter. He finishes around the basket using the rim for protection, with reverse lay-ups, and other ways against long armed defenders. He doesn’t mind the contact. He’ll get his fair share of rebounds. 15pts, 5rebs.
