Kyle was the best player on the floor last night despite leaving the game early with an injury. He was the catalyst that was getting things going for everyone on the team, His movement off the ball really put pressure on the defense as he found himself at the rim many times for easy buckets or simply drawing a foul. Small but he was playing some big boy ball. On his drives he was attacking the 6’11 defender right in his body that allowed him to hand and get some good shots off. His penetration helped his team get open drives and looks when he would kick the ball out.
Stockton is a player that if he can play freely he will be effective. He is a high volume shooter that is not shy or afraid to let it go. Once he learns what a good shot is versus shooting every time he is open he will increase that shooting percentage because he is a good shooter. When it comes to getting to the rim on drives he is getting there, not bad but his ceiling is still high and he can continue to grow his game and be more sharp in all aspects. Defensively especially.
Although he did not lead the team in scoring it was easy to see that he was the best payer on the floor. He was sharp and he was making the right reads and taking the right shots. It is easy to get caught up in the points but pay attention to the amount of shots players take and you will see that although Brody might not be in the Top 5 in scoring he is probably the most effective when it comes to scoring per possession that he is actually shooting. Big time win against a Westlake team that is surging right now.
Highlights
It has started to turn into a battle every where you look and James has been up for the task. He had himself an impressive double-double with 30 plus points and 12 rebounds. James was able to hold off a scrappy Mountain View team. James has been putting together a solid resume here late in the year. James has the game that could be really effective on a team like Snow College because he has size and if his shooting is one he is dangerous. One of the toughest players out there will guard all five positions and hold his own.
