Continue ReadingThis year we will be doing a player of the year for each grade. We will look at who is the best player as a senior, junior and so forth across the state. We are looking at players that play varsity to narrow our search for Players of the Year. The player that wins Mr. Basketball will not be eligible.
Seniors (Class of 2023)
The Class of 2023 has some really good players to choose from. Here are a few players on the radar. Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT over at Woods Cross has been playing very well and with a few teams playing up and down Mason has been as solid as they come.
Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT is a big time hooper and he has been scoring like crazy and he picked up a big time win this past Friday to really boost his stock. If he keeps winning he is going to make a great case.
Ashton Wallace Ashton Wallace 6'4" | CG American Fork | 2023 State UT , this kid at AF has turned things up this year and he has been playing at the level he has showed flashes of in the past. AF has not ducked anyone and if he makes a run at state to defend his title he is as good a candidate as anyone.
Max Toombs Max Toombs 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT , I do not think that there is a player that is playing better across the state and winning games against the best teams in the state. Max Toombs Max Toombs 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT is scoring from all over the floor. He has probably played one of the toughest schedules this year too.
Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT has been balling out of his mind. Quentin is doing something nobody has done in Utah history. He is taking that Cyprus team to new heights as a true State contender.
Dark Horse Options
There will be a lot of dark horse options and here are a few of them.
Kaden Ericksen Kaden Ericksen 6'2" | CG Syracuse | 2023 State UT over at Syracuse can hoop and he can really turn things up as he did last year in the tournament.
Isaac Garrett Isaac Garrett 6'8" | SF Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT and Bron Roberts Bron Roberts 6'11" | SF Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT over at PG have been good and can really play.
Jaxon Kereks over at Riverton is playing better than anyone has played over at Riverton in a long time.
Yorgio Golesis Yorgio Golesis 5'10" | SG Skyline | 2023 State UT and Jaxson Roberts Jaxson Roberts 6'2" | PG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT are super tough guards for their respective teams.
In 4A Jordan Eaton Jordan Eaton 6'2" | CG Crimson Cliffs | 2023 State UT is really having himself a special season over at Crimson Cliffs.
