#4 Shiloh Christian (17-4)
Last Week: WIN 73-68 at Wilton-Wing
Info: The Skyhawks are the #1 seed heading into the Region 5 Tournament. However, they did have a bit of a road scare on Saturday. Shiloh was down by 10 points at halftime. They had a great 3rd quarter and fought back marvelously. Wilton-Wing looks like a team with all guards, they could not handle the Skyhawks inside. In the 4th quarter, Shiloh did a nice job of feeding their Twin Towers, Jay Wanzek Jay Wanzek 6'7" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2023 State ND & Atticus Wilkinson Atticus Wilkinson 6'6" | PF Shiloh Christian | 2024 State ND . The BIGs caught low and scored without a ton of resistance. Shiloh faced some adversity on Saturday, but they rallied and came away with the win. Are they ready to go for the postseason?
#5 Bowman County (18-2)
Last Week: WIN 70-60 at Heart River, WIN 61-58 vs. Hettinger-Scranton
Info: Region 7 looks to be the toughest and deepest Region in Class B. It is going to be a hard-fought battle just to get to the semifinals, let alone State. If anyone can do it, the Bulldogs are a good team to bet on. They play a fast-paced and fun style of basketball. They move the ball very well and they shoot the triple at a high rate.
#6 Sargent County (18-2)
Last week: LOSS 74-60 at #1 Central Cass
Info: The Bulldogs have two losses on the year and both come from Region 1 teams. Sargent County is the #2 seed heading into the postseason. I imagine that they will be looking for revenge at NDSCS! In the Central Cass game, the Bulldogs were led by Josh Wittich Josh Wittich 6'5" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND 20 pts, 8 reb, Gaven Christianson Gaven Christianson 6'0" | PF Sargent County | 2023 State ND 15 pts, 5 reb, 1 ast, Luke Martinson Luke Martinson 6'4" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND 13 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast.
#7 Beulah (17-4)
Last week: WIN 69-62 at Hazen, Loss 61-42 at #2 Four Winds-Minnewaukan
Info: The Miners had a great win at Hazen on Friday. You know the tension is high whenever these two teams play. They are natural rivals and the Region Tournamnet is played in Hazen this year, so this was a huge game leading up to tourney time. Tarren Larson Tarren Larson 6'3" | SF Beulah | 2023 State ND had a great game vs. the Bison. He showed some excellent moves around the rim and a soft touch finishing. He was physical and disruptive on defense. On Saturday, the Miners hit the road and played against the Indians in their home gym. It did not go the Miners way but it was a good learning experience. Scoring leaders from Saturday’s game: Champ Hettich Champ Hettich 6'3" | SG Beulah | 2024 State ND 14 pts, Trace Beauchamp Trace Beauchamp 6'4" | SG Beulah | 2024 State ND 9 pts, Tarren Larson Tarren Larson 6'3" | SF Beulah | 2023 State ND 9 pts.
#8 Thompson (14-6)
Last week: WIN 68-59 at East Grand Forks
The Tommies did not play a North Dakota team this past week but they took care of business against the Green Wave from EGF. Thompson is not super deep but they are super talented. Stat leaders for the Tommies: Drew Overby Drew Overby 6'1" | CG Thompson | 2024 State ND 17.5 3.1 rpb, 2.5 apg, 2.4 spg, Jake Starcevic Jake Starcevic 6'2" | SF Kindred | 2025 State ND 16.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2.6 spg, Karter Peterson Karter Peterson 6'6" | PF Thompson | 2025 State ND 11.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.6 apg, .7 spg, Brayden Wolfgram Brayden Wolfgram 5'10" | PG Thompson | 2024 State ND 7.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 5.2 apg, 2.2 spg, Gavin Krogstad Gavin Krogstad 6'4" | PF Thompson | 2025 State ND 4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, .5 apg, .4 spg.
#9 North Border (18-2)
Last week: WIN 76-37 at Drayton-Valley-Edinburg
Info: The Eagles have two losses on the season and they both come from Region 2 teams (Thompson, Grafton). I have a feeling that the Eagles have their sights set on both in postseason play! North Border has one more regular season game to go, they play at Midway-Minto tonight. Eagle scoring from the DVE win: TJ Cosley TJ Cosley 6'0" | PG North Border | 2023 State ND 19 pts, Ayden Stainbrook Ayden Stainbrook 6'5" | SF North Border | 2023 State ND 19 pts, Grant Cosley Grant Cosley 6'0" | SG North Border | 2025 State ND 17 pts, Kyle Thomas 8 pts, Grayson Ohmann Grayson Ohmann 5'11" | SG North Border | 2024 ND 6 pts.
Big congrats to TJ Cosley TJ Cosley 6'0" | PG North Border | 2023 State ND on scoring over 1,500 career points!
#10 Ellendale (11-8)
(11-8 instead of 18-1 due to forfeits)
There were two forfeits for the Cardinals as of last week’s poll. Since then, five additional forfeits have been added. All seven games took place in the first half of the season, all in large margin leads when an ineligible JV player entered the game. Ellendale remains the top seed in their District Tournament, as most of the forfeits involved games outside of district play.
