The Frontrunners:
Jake Proctor Jake Proctor 6'3" | CG Hesston | 2023 State KS – It’s tough to make a 3A, but it’s not hard to know who to put at the top. Proctor is a veteran of two championships, and this year, Hesston is his team. He has practically doubled his scoring output to more than 20 points per game as a senior as he has become the go-to guy. It was easy to figure the Swathers would be down this year due to graduation losses. But here they are once again in the rankings, and Proctor’s leadership and experience will be key come playoff time.
Davis Rokey Davis Rokey 6'7" Sabetha | 2023 KS – The Bluejays have got a number of weapons. They are by no means a one-man team. But if they make a run as expected as the #1 ranked team, Rokey will get a lot of the attention that has thus far eluded him. He’s a long, athletic and skilled player with the best chance of shining against top competition. He’s averaging 15 points and 7 boards.
Landon Boss Landon Boss 6'1" | SF Osage City | 2023 State KS – The Indians are just outside the 3A rankings, but no one is overlooking this team and its decorated leader Boss. He’s earned a closet full of accolades and will be ready to shine as his career comes to a close. He’s one of the leading scorers in the state with an average around 30 points per game. Regardless how the season ends, Boss is undoubtedly one of the best in 3A.
Eli Sawyers Eli Sawyers 6'7" | SF Southeast Of Saline | 2023 State KS – Sawyers has a ton of experience and contributes in a ton of ways. His stats don’t loom as large as some others, but he has to be on the list as the big man on a team that should make a run.
The Risers:
Hunter Vaughn Hunter Vaughn 5'11" | CG Colby | 2023 State KS (pictured) – Colby has quietly moved up the ranks after winning just eight games all last seasons. They entered this season with an established leader in Vaughn and recently entered the top 10 of 3A. Vaughn is a classic distributor who gets his guys involved. But he can also shoot from deep and excels at the pullup jumper in the midrange. If Colby performs in postseason, Vaughn will be the guy making it go.
Brant Sipe Brant Sipe 6'4" | PF Haven | 2023 State KS – Haven exploded this season, climbing to the #2 spot in the rankings after missing the state tournament a year ago. Sipe is the big man making the biggest impact. He can run the floor and score in the post and midrange, and he’s one of the most physical bigs in the paint. He will be a load for any team to defend come playoff time.
The Sneakers:
Nakari Morrical-Palmer Nakari Morrical-Palmer 6'3" | CG Southeast Of Saline | 2023 State KS – If the Trojans make a big run this year, it might just be Morrical-Palmer who is the standout. He’s physical and explosive. While Sawyers gets more credit, Morrical-Palmer seems like the guy who might just blow up on the state scene. His 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists tell you what kind of versatile and talented guy he is.
Jackson Swartz Jackson Swartz 6'5" | SF Chaparral | 2023 State KS – Swartz would be one of the frontrunners, but his team hovers around .500 again this season. From a purely statistical standpoint, Swartz is at the head of the class. He’s averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds and is good for some highlight reel plays every night.
