Continue ReadingWe are nearing the final week of the Indiana High School Basketball season. The sectional draw is on Sunday when teams will learn the beginning of their path to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. While the season is reaching the final stages there are still plenty of talented prospects looking for a home at the next level. Our state has players still available for college coaches at all levels. From Division I to Division III, NAIA, or Junior College there is talent still on the board. We will be highlighting the best unsigned seniors here in Indiana over the next few days beginning in the backcourt. Here are the best wings still available in the state of Indiana.
Darrion Brooks Darrion Brooks 6'5" | SF New Haven | 2023 State IN (New Haven H.S.): Brooks is a talented slasher and driver for college programs to get involved with here as the high school season comes to a close. At 6’5″ with excellent length this wing has the requisite size for the college level. He rebounds at a high level, is really effective as a mid-range scorer, and can play/guard multiple positions on the perimeter. Brooks is averaging 19.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for New Haven this season. Definitely a scholarship worthy prospect.
Joey Brown Joey Brown 6'6" | SG North Central | 2023 State #280 Nation IN (North Central H.S.): The highest ranked prospect still on the board in Indiana, Brown is #8 in the Prep Hoops Indiana rankings. The 6’6″ wing has point guard level ball-handling and passing skills, is smooth as a jump shooter, and has the physical tools to be a great multi-positional defender at the next level. He’s a do-everything sort of player that you can plug and play wherever you need him. Brown is a mid-major talent that should get attention from any school looking to round out their 2023 recruiting class.
Jalen Hooks Jalen Hooks 6'6" | SF Warren Central | 2023 State #282 Nation IN (Warren Central H.S.): One of the more well-known prospects in the senior class, Hooks is back in the state of Indiana after a season at Donda Academy. The 6’6″ wing has shown flashes of what made him a highly recruited, 4-star prospect in the past. He has great physical tools, can function both on the perimeter and around the basket, and has really grown as a passer this year. Hooks can be an intriguing prospect for low or mid-major programs to take a shot on as we get late in this recruiting cycle.
D.J. Moss D.J. Moss 6'4" | SF Gary 21st Century | 2023 State IN (Gary 21st Century): If you want physical tools, look no further than this 6’4″ wing out of Gary. Moss is extremely physical, has explosiveness at the rim, and can run the floor well in transition. The left-handed shooter will make catch-and-shoot 3’s at the next level, drives it left in a straight line, and rebounds as well as any non-big man in the state. He is a little bit of a tweener at the 3/4 position, but his physical tools and skill level allow him to slide around wherever you need him on both ends of the floor. Holds offers from Trinity Lutheran and IU-Northwest.
Spencer White Spencer White 6'5" | SF Carmel | 2023 State IN (Carmel H.S.): White is an excellent catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc, has good size on the wing, and displays a high basketball IQ on both ends of the floor. Like I tell college coaches a lot, kids from Carmel are typically more ready than other freshmen because of how they practice and the level of competition they play throughout their careers. Small college programs should be all over this prospect as they wrap up their Class of 2023 recruiting efforts.
