While the season is reaching the final stages there are still plenty of talented prospects looking for a home at the next level. Our state has players still available for college coaches at all levels. From Division I to Division III, NAIA, or Junior College there is talent still on the board. We will be highlighting the best unsigned seniors here in Indiana over the next few days beginning in the backcourt. Here are the best post players still available in the state of Indiana.
Joseph Annan Joseph Annan 6'7" | PF Pike | 2023 State IN (Pike H.S.): Annan has showcased the ability to stretch the floor out to three-point range some, but he is also excellent around the basket. The athletic, physical, 6’6″ forward rebounds at a very high level and finishes consistently at the rim. He is averaging 12.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Pike during his senior season. He has started to get a couple of NAIA offers while being heavily recruited at the NAIA level. Excellent small college big man prospect.
Jacob Cherry Jacob Cherry 6'9" | C Eastern-Pekin | 2023 State IN (Eastern Pekin H.S.): Cherry is the big man that in-state NAIA programs are still coveting to try and finish off their 2023 recruiting class. At 6’9″ he is the biggest body still available in Indiana and he has the projectable tools that college coaches look for. He moves well for his size, is dangerous in pick-and-roll action, and can can keep the ball moving when out on the perimeter. As he continues to become more physical his game will really take off. Could end up being a steal at the small college level if that is where he ends up.
Josh Furst Josh Furst 6'6" | C Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN (Blackhawk Christian): This prospect just keeps getting better and better. He is a mobile big man with excellent foot work in the post, a soft touch finishing over his left shoulder, and a relentless motor on the glass. Furst leads Class 2A state title contender Blackhawk Christian with 19.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting 66% from the field. All small college programs that need a talented post player should be recruiting him hard at this point.
Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN (Southport H.S.): There aren’t many prospects in the state of Indiana with the physical tools of this Southport forward. Lemba is a 6’6″ physical specimen with elite athleticism and strength around the basket. He can rebound well outside of his area, get up to finish above the rim, and showcases the ability to drive it right in a straight line from the perimeter. The perimeter game is still developing, but anytime you have the combination of his size, strength, and athleticism you are going to be intrigued. Could be worth some scholarship money if you want a projectable big man in 2023.
James Stasey James Stasey 6'9" | C Fishers | 2023 State IN (Fishers H.S.): In terms of long term ability the list of big men would be VERY small with more potential than this Fishers prospect. Stasey is a 6’9″ center who really burst onto the scene in his first season of varsity basketball. He is excellent on the roll, is a good vertical athlete that finishes above the rim, and can provide some rim protection on the defensive end. He is a no-brainer for Division III and NAIA programs in the state.
