Class B: Mr. Basketball Watchlist

Last week we looked at potential Mr. Basketball candidates from Class A. Today, we are taking a deep dive into Class B. We have compiled a list of impressive seniors that are having a great year, putting up gaudy numbers, and making winning plays. See below for the list of potential Mr. Basketball Candidates.

Reminders: You have to be a senior to be up for the award. Mr. Basketball can be awarded to a player from class A or B.

Ayden Stainbrook Ayden Stainbrook 6'5" | SF North Border | 2023 State ND |6’5 F| North Border

Team Record: 16-2, ranked #10

Stats: 21.6 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 3apg, 47.8 3FG%, game highs 34 pts, 20 reb, 12 double-doubles

A serious athlete that will WHAM, SLAM, and finish in your face. Stainbrook looks to be a top shooter in the state. He finishes in the paint and makes you pay from deep. I love how he shapes to the ball, catches & hits with a smooth shot. Stainbrook is a versatile defender and vacuum rebounder.

Boston Davis Boston Davis 6'4" | SF Dunseith | 2023 State ND |6’4 G/F| Dunseith

Team Record: 12-6

Stats: 26 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.7 apg, game high for points is 45

He is lethal/elite from mid-range. Davis has a great feel and length to get his shot off. He can pull up in traffic and knockdown shots at will. Boston is a sneaky good athlete that changes speeds and keeps you off balance, BIG scoring ability. He creates for others and is a game changer for sure.

Brady Feller Brady Feller 6'2" | SG Bishop Ryan | 2023 State ND |6’2 G| Bishop Ryan

Team Record: 15-2, ranked #4

Stats: 22.3 ppg, 4 rpg, 39 3FG%, game highs of 32 pts, 6 triples

He is having a rockstar senior season and the Lions are one of the best in class B. Brady is an offensive assassin. If you leave him space he will hit the triple and he is a freight train going to the hoop. Feller finishes through contact like a man amongst boys. He is a winner and a walking bucket!

Bryer Kaczynski Bryer Kaczynski 7'0" | C Wyndmere/Lidgerwood | 2023 State ND |7’0 C| Wyndmere/Lidgerwood

Team Record: 7-9

Stats: 13.2 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, 5 bpg, game high of 14 blocks

He has to be the best rim protector and top shot blocker in class B. Kaczynski has vastly improved at contesting without fouling. Bryer dunks nearly every game. His strength around the basket has improved as well. Bryer is an excellent leader and a great communicator. Every team would love to have his length in the paint.

Carson Bartholomay Carson Bartholomay 6'6" | PF Enderlin | 2023 State ND |6’6 F| Enderlin

Team Record: 5-13

Stats: 26.6 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.4 spg, 1.2 bpg, 33 3FG%, 80 FT%, game highs of 52 pts and 8 triples

He has been a workhorse this season! Bartholomay has been extremely efficient and he gets to the line often. He is a tough matchup with his size/shooting/skill. Carson is a zone-buster from the arc and he will score at the rim. He puts pressure on any kind of defense. Aside from scoring at a high clip, Bartholomay is an excellent rebounder.

Team Record: 14-5

Stats: 20.6 ppg, 11 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.1 bpg, 33 3FG%, 67.5 FG%, game highs of 37 pts and 17 rebs

He is a triple-threat scorer. Yale will put you on a poster, hit the triple, and score off the bounce. He has sweet post moves and he scores with a soft touch. Carson protects the rim and he boards like a beast. Yale is a gifted athlete that can play above the rim and he moves his feet well. He is a good passer and a tough defender.

Connor Kerzmann Connor Kerzmann 6'1" | SG Garrison | 2023 State ND |6’1 G| Garrison

Team Record: 16-3

Stats: 23 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2 spg, 31 3FG%, game highs of 38 pts, 8 triples

It took him a bit to get going after coming back from his surgically repaired knee and ankle. Connor is lightning quick and he has one of the best first steps in class B. A top threat in the state from beyond the arc. He will defend the best player and score the most points. Kerzmann is a great teammate and a ferocious competitor.

Erik Foster Erik Foster 6'5" | PF Rugby | 2023 State ND |6’5 PF| Rugby

Team Record: 11-8

Stats: 16 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 4 apg, 2 spg, 48 FG%, 34 3FG%, game high of 26 points

Foster has 13 double-doubles this season. He is a tough defender and Erik is always productive on the boards. He is a great passer with a high IQ for the game. His mid-range jump shot is noteworthy and he is a strong athlete. He is not afraid to do the dirty work but can also make splashy plays. Foster is a top forward in Class B. Super efficient and finishes at a high rate.

Landon Koenig Landon Koenig 6'7" | PF May-Port-C-G | 2023 State ND |6’6 F| May-Port-CG

Team Record: 12-6

Stats: 19 ppg, 11 rpg, 2 apg, 2 spg, 2 bpg

He is playing fantastic basketball! Koenig rebounds at a high rate and he has great anticipation for the ball. His scoring/shooting has really started to heat up as of late. Landon draws a ton of attention and he makes everyone around him better. His length and athleticism make him an imposing defender.

Mitchell Leas Mitchell Leas 6'0" | PG Rolla | 2023 State ND |5’11 G| North Prairie

Team Record: 17-2

Stats: 20.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg, 3 spg, game highs of 35 pts, 6 triples

He is a knockdown shooter from every level. Leas is lights out from 3-point range, and he can hit from deep depths. Mitchell has amazing ball skills and he makes the game look easy. His handles are special and he is an awesome shot creator. Mitchell is a sneaky and smart defender. Leas is a playmaker and a winner.

Talan Batke Talan Batke 6'2" | SG Hazen | 2023 State ND |6’2 G| Hazen

Team Record: 13-6

Stats: 24.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.3 apg, 3.1 spg, game highs of 40 pts, 8 triples, 13 steals

He is a smart player with finely-tuned skills. Batke is a first-class shooter from beyond the arc. His range goes deep and he cashes them in off the bounce and catch. He is also highly productive when going downhill and scoring at the rack. Batke creates turnovers with quickness and excellent anticipation. He is a gamer and a clutch performer.

Tate Grossman Tate Grossman 6'4" | SG Harvey/Wells County | 2023 State ND |6’4 SG| Harvey/Wells County

Team Record: 14-5

Stats: 20.5 ppg, 9 rpg, 4.8 apg, 2.1 spg, 1.4 bpg, 46 FG%, 28.3 3FG%

He is easily on of the top PG’s in the state. Grossman is a complete DUDE and a scary athlete. He is bouncy and he is a wildly-impressive dunker. Tate cooks in transition and is electric to the rim. He is a stat-stuffer and a facilitator. Grossman is a mismatch on O and a lockdown defender that can guard every position.

TJ Cosley TJ Cosley 6'0" | PG North Border | 2023 State ND |6’0 G| North Border

Team Record: 16-2

Stats: 25.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 4.5 apg, 2.7 spg, 34.4 FG%, game-high of 35 pts

One of the fastest players in the state, a great leader, and a top-notch competitor. Unbelievable in transition and he scores in the blink of an eye. TJ is a fantastic creator and his vision is amazing. He is a disruptor on defense with quick hands. Gets to the rim like a speeding bullet. Scores from all levels.

Trey Hatfield Trey Hatfield 6'5" | SG Oak Grove | 2023 State ND |6’5 G/F| Oak Grove

Team Record: 9-8

Stats: 26 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, scored 37 pts twice, game-high for 3’s made is 6

He is a volume scorer that will put it in from anywhere. With his length, Hatfield can shoot over defenders and bigger guys can not stay with him. A serious mismatch that will shoot your heart out. The Grovers will be a scary team in the playoffs with Trey’s offensive ability.

Tyson Enget Tyson Enget 5'11" | PG Powers Lake-Burke Central | 2023 State ND |5’11 G| Powers Lake-Burke Central

Team Record: 14-3

Stats: 18.4 PPG, 8 RPG, 7.1 APG, 5.1 SPG, game-high for points is 27

The best rebounder in the state under 6′. He is a thief and cat burglar on defense. Enget plays fast and furious. He scores from every level and can do it in a hurry. He is a winner with a great feel for the game. Enget has an excellent pull-up and is a sensational finisher at the rim.
