Before the varsity game I watched the two younger levels.
Here were some of the younger standouts
Freshman
Sebastian Valenzuela PG 5’10 2026 Central
A stocky framed PG has some speed and strength. He is very smart and sees the court. He is very tough on the ball defensively and plays the passing lanes well. He gets a bunch of deflections and steals.
Adrian Owens PF 6’2 2026 Central
A skilled post player with ball fakes and a huge IQ. He plays bigger than his height suggests with his toughness and physicality in the paint. He will take it to the chest of the bigger post defenders and score thru the contact. He can step out and hit the three on occasion as well.
Jouquin Owens PF 6’2 2026 Central
Adrian’s twin is talented as well. He is a strong power forward who is an efficient scorer in the paint and rebounds at a high rate in his area. He is a smart player who passes it out of a double team and plays with a motor.
Aidan Lee Delafield Aidan Lee Delafield 5'10" | PG Centennial | 2026 State AZ Centennial (Pictured)
A scoring point guard with a tighter handle to break a defense down. He changes speeds about as well as you could and will get into the lane and use the floater. He makes off balanced shots in the paint. But his game is all about his pretty looking shot. He comes with volleyball line range and a quick trigger. His ball rotates like it should and he has some speed and is surprisingly athletic despite his smaller stature. He sees the court well and hustles with a big IQ for the game. He reportedly scored 41 points last week and had 30+ in this game.
Romell Shields Romell Shields 6'1" | SG Centennial | 2026 State AZ Centennial
A thicker guard has a physical game. He has the euro step and comes with size, length and strength. He has a polished floater game once he gets into the lane and can hit the mid-range jumper, but he wants to attack using his girth. He changes speeds well getting into the paint and he seems to seek contact. He talks a lot on defense and defends multiple positions.
Ty Gates C 6’7 2026 Centennial
The football stud plays TE/DE and QB. He is a massive post player with incredible hands. He moves well for his size and uses his length and strength to board. He can tip it in with one hand in the air impressively and scores it when closest to the rim. He may play a little on varsity next year when he is not training for football.
Jace Arnone Jace Arnone 6'7" | PF Vista Grande | 2026 State AZ Centennial
A power forward who moves well from end to end and rebounds at a good rate in his area. He leaps up quickly to board with two hands. He scores it around the hoop efficiently and will challenge shots at the rim to block or alter the attempts. He is raw somewhat but he just started playing and is reportedly the most improved player in the program. He has huge feet and should keep growing.
Isaac Gonzales SG 5’10 2026 Centennial
The teams catch and shoot three point gunner. He releases the ball quickly and gets a clean look in every attempt. He takes pressure off of Delafield and Shields.
JV
Shawn Hernandez Shawn Hernandez 5'10" | CG Central | 2026 State AZ Central
The freshman single-handedly closed the gap from a blow out to a close contest. He has a super quick trigger with deep three point range and a good feel for the game,. He is a good passer but is usually looking to score. He can pull-up from the three point line off the dribble being defended closely. He goes on heaters where he gets hot and it all falls in from the stripe. He must have had 30+ points with around eight triples.
Metasu Sebastian PF 6’3 2024 Central
A tough power forward with good hands to catch passes and is a high level rebounder. He has very long arms to corral the ball and plays with a real motor. He uses his left hand predominantly but scores it efficiently with both. He actually shoots free throws with his right hand being a true ambidextrous player.
Darius Jones SF 6’3 2025 Centennial
A stronger wing forward is an inside and out threat. He scores the ball in the post with his left or right hand. He will make a catch three and then crash the glass throwing his thicker build around to grab out of area rebounds. He runs the court well and gets transition buckets and is a natural rebound chaser.
Christian DeAguero SG 6’2 2024 Centennial
A high IQ scoring guard with quick hands and feet. He has skill and can rattle off triples when he gets in rhythm. He has a little burst to get past his defenders and will kick it to a corner shooter with an unselfish nature.
