Brophy Prep was undefeated for their freshman team and had only two losses by a total of four points heading into the games.
They did end up winning both games and remained unblemished at 15-0 on freshmen and 13-2 on JV.
Here were the Junior Varsity standouts
Rocket Schwertley Rocket Schwertley 6'5" | PF Brophy Prep | 2026 State AZ Brophy Prep (Pictured)
One of the more skilled power forwards you will find in the class. His hands, strength and skill are at a high level. He has advanced post footwork with counter moves and ball fakes. He can put the ball on the deck, he is super patient and once he seals his man, it is two points and he can easily step out and shoot the three with perfect form and ball rotation. He grabs every rebound in his area with fantastic positioning and knows how to use his girth to his advantage. He is a shockingly very good passer.
Malaki Garnica Malaki Garnica 6'1" | CG Brophy Prep | 2025 State AZ Brophy Prep
A scoring combo guard can dribble drive and score in traffic. He smartly uses the pick and roll to his advantage and sees the court. He runs the floor gracefully and he can shoot the three. He can rattle off triples once he gets hot. He has a real nice euro game and uses it often in transition.
Kai Hogan Kai Hogan 6'4" | SF Brophy Prep | 2025 State AZ Brophy Prep
The JV teams sharp shooter has perfect ball rotation on his shot. He can take two dribbles and rise up from mid-range. He also made a couple up the court passes on a dime and makes plays as an unselfish teammate. He can rebound inside with his stronger frame and plays with toughness and a high IQ.
Will Jenson Will Jenson 6'8" | PF Caldera | 2025 State OR Brophy Prep
A long and taller post player moves fluidly from end to end. He doesn’t mind the contact inside the painted area despite being a little leaner and will post up his man and try and gain position. He can score on tip ins with his length and timing and rebounds well in his area.
Dennis Gregory Dennis Gregory 5'10" | PG Brophy Prep | 2025 AZ Brophy Prep
A fast point guard is a physical on-ball defender. He has nice open court speed and can outrace his opponents for buckets. He ripped many pockets during the game and he changes speeds well. He can pass the ball up the court well and has real speed to burn in the open court.
Nathan Benzie SF 6’1 2025 Brophy Prep
A tough wing forward plays inside often and will score thru contact. He is a good free throw shooter and plays with a motor to rebound out of his area. He does most of the glue work for their team and plays hard.
Marquice Cole Jr Marquice Cole Jr 5'11" | CG Hamilton | 2026 State AZ Hamilton
A gifted scorer who makes it look easy during stretches. He had 27 points from all levels. He can pull-up from mid-range and is a capable arc shooter, but his game is getting to the basket. He has a super quick first step with a tight handle. He gets really low and he changes speeds and takes contact with his sturdy frame. He can easily split defenders and his runner is tight. He is a pretty good passer but has the mindset of a scorer.
Isaiah Terry Isaiah Terry 6'3" | SG Hamilton | 2025 State AZ Hamilton
The younger brother of NBA player Dalen Terry has some tools to work with. He is a fluid and long scoring guard who handles it. He has the runner in heavy traffic and can step thru and score. He uses his length on defense and will rebound inside. He can possibly be that late bloomer type.
Adam Slater Adam Slater 6'1" | PG Hamilton | 2026 State AZ Hamilton
A fluid and lean scoring lead guard can drive by and score it with runners. He is a smart passer and handles the ball fairly well. He has a nice left hand shooting stroke and he has a burst to get to the basket. He will make a quick move will his long strides to the cup and he gets a lot of deflections on the defensive end.
Cam Ehrlich SG 5’9 2025 Hamilton
A stocky framed scoring guard has a compact stroke from the stripe. He is strong and tough and he will defend either guard spot and moves the ball. He is built like a running back and will get to the rim with his speed and build.
KJ Bennett F 6’4 2025 Hamilton
A long forward plays both spots. He can rip thru and score in traffic and uses his long arms to rebound and alter shots. He will finish off layups in traffic and he holds his ground about as well as he could even though he is a little leaner. He is a naturally tough competitor.
