6A Dark Horse Teams

With the playoffs around the corner seeding is going to be what it is and teams will need to play who is in-front of them. We will list a few teams that could be dark horse teams that could make a run or upset a team that are not in the top tier or teams you expect to make a run.

Pleasant Grove (9-11)

The Vikings were once expected to be one of the better teams in the state because of the players they had coming back and the addition of 6’11 F Bron Roberts Bron Roberts 6'11" | SF Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT . Things haven’t been as planned as the Vikings have struggled and are currently 9-10. The way their schedule is looking they will have a hard time getting to .500. In the past few games we have been getting call son Bron as he has been playing well and D1 coaches are watching. Isaac Garret is a tough cover as he can go inside and out. On the bench they could use Colby Dean Colby Dean 6'9" | C Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT who also has size. The point guard position has been a big hole this year as injuries have really hit the Vikings. If Michael Mitton Michael Mitton 6'3" | CG Pleasant Grove | 2023 State UT is back they have a shot and they will need the youngster Austin Simon Austin Simon 6'0" | PG Lone Peak | 2025 State UT as well. One thing is for sure, playing them in the first round is going to be brutal.

Bingham (8-11)

Bingham is another team that will have a hard time getting to .500 as they have struggled this year but things are looking up and confidence is high as they beat Copper Hills. The player that has looked good as of late has been Luke West Luke West 6'2" | SG Bingham | 2026 State UT , he is getting touches and they have let him have some freedom and it is paying off. There have been times when he has been the best player on the court. Impressive play from Brayden Whitehead Brayden Whitehead 6'10" | C Bingham | 2023 State UT has been roaming the paint and his rim protecting skills will be needed to make a run here at the end of region and in the playoffs. KJ Jenson KJ Jenson 6'0" | SG Bingham | 2023 State UT and Stockton Tueller Stockton Tueller 6'2" | CG Bingham | 2024 State UT have been great glue guy players as has Carson Bagley Carson Bagley 6'0" | PG Bingham | 2023 State UT . This team plays defense and they have a lot of bodies they can throw at you. With some big wins in Las Vegas and against Region 4 teams do not look past them.

Farmington (12-6)

Not a bad overall record but they are 4-4 in region play and could slide a bit more before the season is over. Paul Beattie Paul Beattie 6'9" | SF Farmington | 2024 State UT is a force as a stretch big and Cole Johnson Cole Johnson 6'3" | CG Orem | 2023 State UT has been playing well. Another player that has been really good this yer for Farmington has been Jayden Haskell. Farmington does have size to compete as Ethan Atkinson Ethan Atkinson 6'8" | PF Farmington | 2024 State UT has been showing that he belongs on the floor and he can produce. Not sure if the RPI will hurt them being in a region that is tough.
