Continue ReadingIn his first year at North Gwinnett, Caleb Jones-Dicks Caleb Jones-Dicks 6’1″ | CG North Gwinnett | 2024 State GA has become more comfortable and confident with each game. He’s to the point now where he’s really beginning to see his stock rise and get his name out there. Jones lit it up in the 1st round with 34 points in a 72-62 win over Mill Creek. His shot was falling all night, 3 three-pointers made and 7-7 from the FT line. With several key seniors heading out the door, he’ll likely run the show next year at North Gwinnett.
Highlights
Kell had a dominant 1st round showing, a 29-point win over Maynard Jackson who I considered one of the best 4-seeds in any bracket. Jaylen Colon Jaylen Colon 6’0″ | PG Kell | 2024 State GA had a fantastic shooting night and finished with a game-high 28 points on 8 three-pointers. There were consecutive possessions in the 3rd quarter when he pulled up from the logo and hit. At that point, the crowd was on their feet and it felt like the final blow. Colon will be an instrumental part of Kell’s journey to Macon and makes them extremely hard to beat when he’s shooting the ball like he was on Tuesday.
Collin Smith
Collin Smith
Collin Smith has certainly left his mark on the Southeast Bulloch basketball program. On Wednesday, Smith led Southeast Bulloch to their first playoff win since 2000. He finished with a game-high 25 points and has scored it a high level all year long. Just two weeks ago, he set the record at Southeast Bulloch with 50 points in a single game. Smith is an athletic, 6’6 forward that can stretch the floor and shoot the 3. He’ll be headed to play at Maryville next year along with a few other Georgia guys.
Malachi Robinson
Malachi Robinson
Johnson-Savannah looks poised for a deep run in the tournament and took care of business in the 1st round with a blowout win over Hephzibah. While Antonio Baker Antonio Baker 6’3″ | SG Johnson-Savannah | 2023 State GA usually heads the scoring efforts, it was more than just him on Wednesday. Baker, Josh Quarterman, and Malachi Robinson each put up 28 points. Robinson finished with a mind-boggling stat line of 28 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. If Robinson keeps up this level of impact, the Elite 8 should make for a great matchup between Johnson-Savannah and Sandy Creek.
Mykel Williams Mykel Williams 6’0″ | PG Mays | 2023 State GA stepped up on Wednesday with a huge game to keep Mays alive. He finished the game with 26 points and 8 assists, creating offense in a variety of ways. He’s quick with the ball in his hands and can collapse defenses with penetration off the dribble. The senior leadership from Williams and Saulamon Evans Saulamon Evans 6’5″ | CG Mays | 2023 State GA has proven impactful this year and has them in the 2nd round. Williams has put together a solid senior campaign, averaging 16 ppg and 6 apg, and is still looking for a home next year.
