This matchup, that Pierre had control of after Winner went on an 7-0 opening run — was fruitful of talent and athleticism on display. I only evaluated the 1st half, in preparation to see as many teams as possible in the state.
Pierre
Jackson Edman Jackson Edman 6'7" | SF Pierre | 2023 State SD – 6’7 F 2023 – Pierre – Edman has a college frame and build to him already. Looks prepped and ready for the next level at D2 Black Hills State University. It feels like they’re getting a steal here, in my opinion. A premier frame and profile for a Division II destination. 6’7 — long — athletic — frame — built — heavy motor — Had a running one-handed dunk as he received a pass, while he was filling the lane, offensively.
Lincoln Kienholz Lincoln Kienholz 6'3" | PG Pierre | 2023 State SD – 6’3 G 2023 – Pierre – The Ohio State football commits’ athletic ability translates to the basketball court as well. It didn’t take much time for him to prove his athleticism, because he happened to get a coast-to-coast steal and rise up quickly, then elevated for an impressive dunk. He just has the looks, feel, and movement of a natural athlete that could step on various playing fields and compete at a high level. He showed scoring ability early as well, as he nailed a transition three, in which he caught it beyond the three — took one step — and popped it easily. Pierre QB1 can hoop too.
Benjamin Heisler – 6’3 G/F 2023 – Pierre – The 6’3 Senior showed some high-end athletic ability and overall verticality. They say rise up over your competition, and Heisler took it seriously. He produced a steal, spin-move, and finish at the hoop in a sudden manner. Heisler can get off the ground quickly and easily to snag rebounds, as well as contest shots consistently. Has my early vote for most underrated prospect in the state.
Winner
Blake Volmer Blake Volmer 6'0" | CG Winner | 2023 State SD – 6’3 G 2023 – Winner – Volmer is similar to Kienholz, in that he just looks like an athlete and has an athletic build/profile to him. Strong and lean frame that has some size to it. Transitions to the next level at his current position. Got caught up in some early foul trouble, but showed he can hit a three, hit shots off the dribble, and create by himself.

– 6’7 C 2025 – Winner – Hammerbeck is an old-school style post that has a solid and mature build to him. Not scared of contact, whatsoever. Has a jumper on him and can finish against contact.
