An athletic 6-4 forward, Benton got off to a great start for the Wildcats before dealing with some major foul trouble throughout the second half. A bouncy forward who has really improved his touch around the rim and added a bit of a mid-range game to his arsenal, he finished with 13 points on 6-12 shooting, including knocking down a 3 that he looked comfortable taking, to go with 6 rebounds.
PG Jordan Caton Jordan Caton 5'9" | PG Alburnett | 2024 State IA (Alburnett)
Alburnett ended their game against Cascade early on, jumping out to a quick 20-2 lead, and the 5-9 point guard was a huge part of that. He’s lightning-quick, changes directions in the blink of an eye, and can create some major chaos on the defensive end with his quick hands and feet. He’s a knockdown shooter off the catch who can also create for others at a high level. Caton finished with 15 points on 5-10 shooting (4-7 3P) with 5 assists and 3 steals.
SG Braydon Osborn Braydon Osborn 6'3" | SG Alburnett | 2024 State IA (Alburnett)
A 6-3 wing who attacks the rim relentlessly in transition and cuts well without the ball in his hands in the halfcourt, Osborn also finished with 15 points in the Pirates’ win over Cascade to go with 12 rebounds and 3 assists. He has good size and length and is a strong rebounder on the defensive end who is a good enough ball-handler to pull down the defensive rebound and lead the break.
PF Gage Kampman Gage Kampman 6'7" | PF Iowa City Liberty | 2024 State IA (Liberty)
Kampman finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds in the Lightning’s blowout win over Fairfield, flashing some of the potential on both ends of the floor that makes him an intriguing prospect moving forward. A long 6-8 forward who can protect the painted area as a shot blocker, he has good hands, improving touch around the rim, and he rebounds well, particularly on the offensive end, which is where a good chunk of his scoring comes from. A rim-running big man with a work-in-progress offensive game, he’s the type of player who will impact the game in a major way even without scoring because of his defense and rebounding.
SF Graham Beckman Graham Beckman 6'2" | SF Liberty | 2024 IA (Liberty)
Beckman, a 6-3 wing, didn’t attempt a shot in Liberty’s win over Fairfield, but he still had a major impact on the game, finishing with 9 rebounds (4 offensive), 5 assists, and a steal. Also a standout quarterback for the Lightning, it makes sense that he’s a good passer with excellent vision, and that was on full display on Saturday night. He’s a tough, physical wing who pounds the glass on both ends of the floor, handles it well, and loves to get others involved.
