In the first game we saw Dominguez defeated Capistrano Valley, 57-50, and bwloe are some rapid reactions from the event.
Isaac Sowell an unsigned senior for junior colleges to watch
The 6-foot-5 forward is the type of player that can thrive at the junior college level. His high motor, willingness to pursue rebounds on the offensive and defensive boards and to do the little things to help a team win are the things that will help him get on the floor at the next level. Offensively, Sowell has some good feel and footwork with his back to the basket and can step out and knock down catch and shoot jumpers. He finished with 14 points and 19 rebounds in the win over Capistrano Valley.
Efe Gucoglu Efe Gucoglu 6'4" | SG Capistrano Valley | 2023 State CA-S one of the better shooters in Orange County but proving he’s also a scorer
There’s a big difference between a shooter and a scorer, especially as players continue to climb the ladder to higher levels. From what we remember from last season, Gucoglu had one of the best pure shooting strokes in OC but Monday he showed that he’s adding some off-the-bounce game to his offensive package. Gucoglu still knocked down his patented three-point shot but also put the ball on the floor and got into a balanced pull-up jumper. The 6-foot-3 senior finished with 23 points in the loss to Dominguez
Alijah LaGrone had a strong shooting effort for Dominguez
Multiple Dominguez High players were knocking down perimeter jumpers throughout this game, but LaGrone game off the bench and gave the Dons a much-needed boost from the perimeter. The 5-foot-11 off-guard knocked down three 3-pointers en route to 13 crucial points in the win.
