With eight showcase games, the event gave each team a final warmup before league play begins for most of them. I was able to attend the event and here’s a look at some of the top players I saw.
1. Jason Crowe Jr. – Lynwood 2026
Crowe Jr. continues to be one of the top prospects in the area regardless of class. In this particular game, he finished with 45 points and displayed his all-around scoring ability. He’s a consistent three-point shooter with unlimited range. Able to break down the defense off the dribble and knock down the pull-up jumper in the halfcourt. Crafty finisher at the basket. Good size for a point guard. Able to find the open teammates in the halfcourt, especially off drive and kicks.
2. Treyshawn Degrate – San Diego 2025
Degrate is an unselfish point guard who keeps the ball moving in the halfcourt. He consistently looks for the open teammate and is able to create off the dribble. He was able to attack the basket and kick the ball out when the defense collapsed. Quick with the ball in his hands. Decent shooter from three-point range. What really stood out though was his defensive play, using quick hands to poke the ball free and force turnovers.
3. A.J. Johnson – Pacifica Christian 2026
I’ve seen Johnson play a couple of times now and he’s always been impressive coming off the bench and being the second unit point guard. He’s got solid handles and dribbles under control; able to keep his dribble up against defensive pressure. He’s solid in transition, pushing the pace, keeping his head up and recognizing teammates running the break. Solid defensively too, he puts pressure on ball and forces the ball-handler into passing under duress.

– St. Pius X St. Matthias 2024
Riley is able to play multiple positions and his ceiling is probably as a wing but for this team he is clearly the point guard and the one with the ball in his hands making plays. His combination of size, height and skill makes him unique. He can handle the ball, he can create his own offense and he can be the primary playmaker and get his teammates easy scoring opportunities. He has a nice little floater once he gets into the lane. Very active on the glass. He can post up on smaller defenders well.
