North HS 82 Andrew Jackson Academy 74
This game was back and forth all day long with plenty of action to say the least. The North HS Eagles led by Head Coach Keith Parks were down 66-58 with 4:21 left in the 4th quarter. The Eagles would use a 12-4 run to tie the score at 70-70 with 2:20 left in the game.
David Johnson David Johnson 6'3" | SG Andrew Jackson Academy | 2023 State SC was very instrumental in the game for the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors (16-3) would foul out with 2:53 left in the game. Johnson finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds according to my unofficial stats. Nicknamed DL has a thick frame and plays bigger than his size on the floor. He has great body control going to the cup when he’s not showcasing a short mid-range pull-up. Johnson is a very productive scorer and player on the floor for the Warriors.
Sophomore Stetson Stack Stetson Stack 5'10" | CG North | 2025 State SC led the way for the Eagles with 29 points while UNSIGNED Senior Jalen Jefferson Jalen Jefferson 6'2" | CG North | 2023 State SC added 20 points before fouling out with 57.3 seconds left and a 75-70 lead. Stack was fearless all game long with his play. He came up with big shot after big shot today including some clutch three pointers down the road for the Eagles. Stack surely doesn’t lack confidence.
Jefferson a left-handed scoring guard came into the contest averaging 25.4 ppg this season for the Eagles (11-5). Jalen is a 3-level scorer for the Eagles and really shows to have a great mid-range game and pull-up. Jefferson picked up several deflections today that led to baskets heading the other direction.
Junior post player Kashannon Strobert Kashannon Strobert 6'6" | PF North | 2024 State SC runs the floor well and was able to connect on a short jumper from the elbow. Stobert a left-handed forward showed to have a nice jump-hook in the paint when he was given the opportunity to shoot the ball. Kashannon understands his role here is to rebound the ball and be a rim-runner for the Eagles.
The Warriors received great contributions from UNSIGNED Seniors Brenden Brantley Brenden Brantley 6'2" | SG Andrew Jackson Academy | 2023 State SC with 22 points while Robert Clark Robert Clark 5'9" | PG Andrew Jackson Academy | 2023 State SC added 15 points and 7 assists. Brantley came into the contest averaging 25.2 ppg this season. Brantley a slender-sleek guard found his groove in the second half for the Warriors. He came into the game having already made 75 three pointers this season.
Clark is built like a tank and runs the show for the Warriors. Robert plays football in the fall for the SCISA Class 1A school located in Ehrhardt. He was able to use his body and absorb contact to the rack while showing good body control. He had no problems jumping on the deck for a loose ball.
The Eagles really like to play just about 6-7 kids. The Warriors on the other hand really rely on the 3 seniors in Brantley, Clark and Johnson to lead the way.
