Burnett scored seven of his team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter and had the game-saving block as time expired to preserve the victory. David is a strongly built wing with great leaping ability. He has a solid outside shot and is a physical slasher that scores in the paint. In the fourth quarter, Burnett showed his toughness with two key putbacks in traffic.
Foul trouble hampered Wallace in the second half but when he was on the floor, he was efficient. Keion finished with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. A strong athlete packed with muscle, it was Wallace’s shooting touch that really stood out. He did a nice job getting to his spots in the mid-range, scoring on four pull-ups, sinking a pair of threes. Out of his seven made field goals, six were jump shots, the other a tough And-1 drive. Keion is vocal on the floor as a leader. While football is his path in college, holding a multitude of D-I offers as a 3-star athlete, Wallace still loves the game of basketball and is a darn good player.
McGhee’s length played a huge role in slowing down Brandon Rechsteiner Brandon Rechsteiner 6’0″ | PG Etowah | 2023 State #193 Nation GA for the first three quarters. At 6-foot-6, whenever he was switched onto the VT signee, he closed the gap and didn’t allow any clean looks. McGhee did a great job sticking with plays, chasing down blocks from behind whenever any slipped past him. McGhee is a valuable swingman with his ability to score from multiple levels and defend 1-5. He tallied 11 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks. He should be high on D-II wish lists.
The king of the dirty work, Mason Etter Mason Etter 6’5″ | SF Etowah | 2023 State GA had his hands full defending Braedan Lue Braedan Lue 6’8″ | PF Alexander | 2024 State #84 Nation GA while still being asking to provide an offensive lift. Of course, Etter accomplished his goal producing 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. He is a three-level scorer that is all steak, no sizzle. Defensively, he’s tough as nails when guarding bigger players. Mason is as fundamentally sound as they come, great at blocking out. Etter is a winner and will bring invaluable intangibles to any college locker room.
