This non region matchup featured a very solid team in HHC vs a rebuilding Chargers program. The Eagles came on the road and escaped with an overtime victory over the host Chargers. The Eagles move to (15-2) on the season while the Chargers fall to (7-11). The game was nip and tuck and all night long and the Chargers were even winning on the foul count in the second half.
Juniors Step Up:
The Eagles strong play from Juniors Qayden Turner Qayden Turner 6'6" | SF Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC and Isaiah Anderson Isaiah Anderson 6'5" | PF Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC . Turner is an athletic wing player who has the ability to play inside-out at times. Qayden will look to stalk the baseline when he’s not dropping a 3-ball in a defender’s face at times. He really likes to have the ball in hands and has the ability to make plays for himself and others on the court. Turner showed good body control finishing around the cup tonight after stalking the baseline at times. Qayden finished the night with 19 points and 11 rebounds according to my unofficial stats.
Anderson is so efficient around the paint area for the Eagles. Isaiah was able to showcase a nice drop step move in the paint with his great footwork. He really understands how to play around the basket and set screens away from the ball. Isaiah keeps the ball up high after rebounding it and takes a lot of pride in just outworking players downlow in the paint. He finished the night with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
New Face in Town:
Elijah White Elijah White 6'4" | CG Hilton Head Christian Academy | 2024 State SC moved into the Hilton Head area this past summer after living in Atlanta, GA. White brings some good versatility to the floor for the Eagles with his ability to play multiple positions. He was able to finish at the cup with both hands when he wasn’t shooting the ball from the perimeter. Elijah has good court awareness and vision to find his teammates with quality looks. White finished with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists tonight in the victory.
Just Not Enough:
Christian Gray Christian Gray 6'4" | PF Northwood Academy | 2023 State SC did everything he possibly do for the Chargers it seemed today. Gray an undersized post player embraces his position down in the paint. He was able to utilize a nice head-fake move at times to get defenders off their feet. Christian plays bigger than his size at times for the Chargers. Gray entered the game averaging 16.2 ppg this season and 7.6 rebounds. He finished the evening with 14 points all down inside the paint area.
Freshman Seeing Good Minutes:
The Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles have a young team and a freshman guard in Harrison Skinner Harrison Skinner 5'10" | CG Hilton Head Christian | 2026 State SC . Skinner sure plays the game with a good deal of confidence from the backcourt. Harrison was able to connect on a few three pointers today on his way to scoring 8 points in the victory. The Eagles start 4 underclassmen in the starting lineup. Can they make a push for a SCISA Class 3A State Championship this season?
