Tomball Memorial started the year off 17-0, Aldine Davis defeated Nimitz, Booker T. has continued to prove they are real state contenders, and Atascocita is still Atascocita.
Odis Carter – Houston Booker T. Washington
Carter is an incoming transfer that adds more power to their offense. Great pair with returning point guard Andre Walker; Odis is more of a scoring guard that can get to the rim. Small guard that is quick with the ball, and is a downhill player. Can create shots for himself from the perimeter. Player that doesn’t shy away from competition, and plays with the mindset he can score on anybody. Have to start making the right pass
Gavin Davis – Jersey Village High School
Davis following the footsteps of his older brother Silas, Gavin has kept the family tradition of putting the ball in the hole. The junior guard can create scoring opportunities for himself. Possess good length on the wing. Like to drive hard right if the defender closes out, and withstand contact to finish. Love to see him use his shot in the mid-range. He has a soft touch on his release that I believe will be effective for him. Already use his floater when the help rotates in the paint.
Tyrus Rathan-Mayes – Langham Creek High School
Another talent in the class of 2025 ,Mayes has a chance to be really special. Legit 6’6 guard with fluid movement with his dribbles. More of a playmaking guard who can create space off the dribble .A smooth release on a perimeter shot makes him a good catch ad shoot-shooter. Patient with his dribble when letting the play happen. Would love for him to become more aggressive in making plays for his offense. He has the tools to become an efficient playmaker.
Abraham Kirksey Jr. – Aldine High School
Kirksey is a raw player who plays with grit and grinds for his stats. Offensively, Kirksey can shoot the three ball, drive to the lane, and create contact drawing fouls. Lead his team in scoring averaging 16 points per game along with rebounds averaging six per game. Fights for the defensive rebound board. The muscle he carries helps when the mustangs go against a bigger team. When the game slows down for him, the angles of the game will become more clear. He can get by his defender with a quick first step or by shifting them off-balance.
Jonathan Gray – Aldine Davis
Gray impressed me with his vision. Need to work on his handle, but he makes the simple play. Real patient player with the player, and use his body to shield the ball. Takes open shots in the mid-range with a soft touch, and good finisher at the rim when in transition. He provides an IQ on the court for his team. I believe if he plays with full confidence he can be a stat stuffer Davis.
