However, that quickly changed and Kindred dominated for the final three quarters. The Tommies never let it get out of control, but it felt like the Vikings had the momentum and the game in their hands for the final 3 quarters. This was a fun game with a ton of young talent on the floor. These two squads will be two of the best in ND for the next 3 years. The sophomore talent on the Tommies and Vikings is beyond impressive. I would expect both of these teams to have a good chance at competing for a Region Championship at the end of this season.

Tommies
Drew Overby Drew Overby 6'1" | CG Thompson | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G|
19 points, 2/2 FT’s, 3 triples. He was really good in transition. Overby runs the court hard and he is fast. He is good at finishing from odd angles and when going full speed. Drew also scored with a super-soft floater and with jump shots. He was money from the FT line and his 3-point shot has to be taken seriously. He seems to work hard on both ends and Drew had a couple of nice assists. Overby is having an excellent junior season and you should expect that to keep happening throughout the year.

14 points. I loved the way that he passed the rock. He was unselfish and he delivered multiple impressive passes. Jake threaded the needle on a few of them and other times he made the easy pass and he delivered exactly to where it needed to go. Starcevic’s athleticism was on display with a coast-to-coast finish in traffic. Much like Overby, Starcevic is fast up and down the court. Jake dove on the floor for loose balls and he created TOs on defense. He showed creativity and craftiness around the rim. I am interested to hear how many assists Jake had. The Tommies took the L but Jake did some great things out there today.

18 points. He did all of his scoring in the 1st and 4th quarters. He scored most of his baskets at the rim, but Peterson also showed the ability to hit mid-range jumpers. His shooting form and mechanics looked fluid. As always, Peterson was tough on the boards and he scored with putbacks. He blocked multiple shots on defense. When finishing around the basket, Karter showed a feathery-soft touch. He plays hard but never seems to get out of control. I loved his spin move and his drop step. I like his game more and more every time that I watch Peterson play.

13 points, 1/1 FT’s, 2 triples. I have not heard how many rebounds Ouse had but it must have been in the double digits. He always seems to be around the ball, and his long arms allow him to grab the rebound over smaller defenders. Karson is great at high-pointing the ball. He scored on putbacks, a deep 3-pointer, and an AND1. I was impressed with how he drew contact, absorbed the hit, and was still able to finish. Karson has a ton of potential.

24 points, 5/7 FT’s, 1 triple. This was the best that I have seen him play in school ball. His 3-pointer came for the left corner in the first half, it looked smooth and natural. Peraza scored with mid-range jumpers, spin moves, lefty finger rolls, hang-time finishes, and multiple times after a foul/contact. Presley was great going downhill and I loved his aggressiveness. Peraza is looking like a more well-rounded scorer. His athleticism was also displayed when he grabbed a long rebound, attacked the hoop, and scored with a smooth above-the-rim flush.
Jorgen Swenson Jorgen Swenson 6'0" | SG Kindred | 2023 State ND (2023) |5’10 G|
13 points, 2/3 FT’s, 3 triples. He is a serious shooting threat from beyond the arc. Swenson is great in the catch-n-shoot game and I like how quickly he sets his feet ready to shoot. The Tommies made an attempt to come back in the 4th quarter. The lead got under 10 points, for a short moment and Jorgen quickly hit a 3-pointer to put the lead back into double digits. Swenson is also a hard worker. His strength and hang time were on display with an AND1 finish. Swenson is proving to be a legit player for the Vikings and opposing teams shot not leave him alone beyond the arc.
Brooks Bakko

5 points, 1/1 FT’s. He certainly does not look or play like an 8th grader. Bakko is very skilled and he plays poised. Brooks does a nice job with the ball in his hands and can score from in and out. He scored in transition and is not afraid to attack the basket. Bakko has a bright future.
Jack Davis (2024) |6’4 F|
8 points, 2/2 FT’s. I liked the looks of this kid’s game. Davis can score in the paint and with a mid-range jumper. He also had a sweet bounce pass in the lane to Ouse. Davis is long, he does not force shots, and he is an opportunistic scorer. Jack looks like an effective role player for the Vikings.
