NEW NAMES
Jaeger Gunville Jaeger Gunville 6'0" | SG Minot | 2023 State ND |6’0 G| Minot
He is a key player on one of the top teams in Class A. Minot lost in a tight game to Mandan and Gunville had 12 points, 6 boards. Before last night, Jaeger was averaging 10 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 2.2 apg. He is a hard worker and a tough defender. Gunville comes from a basketball family and he knows the game well. Jaeger helped the Magi win a Championship last year and he plays winning basketball. He will be a key player as Minot makes another run at a State Championship in 2023.
Chase Knoll Chase Knoll 6'4" | SF Bismarck Legacy | 2023 State ND |6’4 SF| Bismarck Legacy
The Sabers are 5-2 on the season. Before last night, Chase was averaging 15.8 pp, 3.8 rpg, 3.7 apg, and was shooting 41.2 % for 3pt range. Knoll is a 3-level scorer. He has been producing impressively with his size and skill. Knoll has had a great start to his senior season
Brayden Weidner Brayden Weidner 5'10" | CG Bismarck Legacy | 2023 State ND |5’10 G| Bismarck Legacy
Much like his fellow Saber above, Weirdner is having a nice senior season. In the Legacy win last night, Brayden went for 13 pts, 5 reb, and 4 ast. Going into the St. Mary game, Weidner was averaging 15.3 ppg, 4 rpg, and 2.7 apg. He is not the biggest guard on the court, but Brayden has been effective and he is full of energy. Weidner shoots it well from deep and he is a sparkplug that deserves more attention.
Cole Callies Cole Callies 5'11" | SG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND |5’11 G| Fargo Davies
He has had a breakout start to the season. Callies has emerged as a serious shooting/scoring threat from beyond the arc. Cole shoots it with good feet and a clean/compact shooting stroke. I like that he has no wasted movement and how quickly he shoots it. Heading into last night, Cole was averaging 11.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.3 apg, had made 17 triples and was shooting 45% from deep. Callies is a major shooting threat that will need to be accounted for this season. Look for the senior shooter to play a big role in any success that the Eagles have this season.
Karsyn Jablonski Karsyn Jablonski 6'2" | SG Mandan | 2023 State ND |6’2 G| Mandan
He hit the biggest shot of his career last night. Jablonski knocked down a triple from the top of the key with 1 second left in regulation. That was the game-winning shot and it boosted the Braves to an upset win over #1 Minot. Karsyn finished the game with 14 points, 2 treys, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Going into last night, Jablonski was averaging 16.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, and 6 apg. Jablonski has proven himself as a big-shot maker and a clutch performer. Karsyn and the Braves are currently ranked #2 in Class A.
Mat Mudingay Mat Mudingay 6'1" | SF Mandan | 2023 State ND |6’1 F| Mandan
He is looking like a breakout player in the WDA. Mudingay has played a vital role in the Braves perfect start to the season. He is an undersized forward that is tough, strong, physical, and persistent. Matt helped Madan take down the mighty Magai last night. Heading into last night’s game, Mudingay was averaging 16.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg.
Mason Storbakken Mason Storbakken 6'0" | CG Richland | 2023 State ND |6’0 G| Richland
This Colt is off to a hot start, Mason is averaging 16.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.3 apg, and 3.5 spg. Mason controls the tempo and is a team leader. He gets to the rim for buckets and knocks down pull-up J’s. Storbakken is smart about drawing contact for FT’s, and he is consistent from the line. Mason is also shooting a high percentage from beyond the arc. He will likely be an All-Region 1 player.
Ben Hosman Ben Hosman 5'11" | CG Glen Ullin/Hebron | 2023 State ND |5’11 G| Glen Ullin/Hebron
He has the Bearcats sitting at 5-1. Hoasman played very well at the Mandan Holiday Tourney and he put up nice numbers. Ben can direct traffic and control the tempo. He has a sweet pull-up game and can score at the rim.
Preston Kraft Preston Kraft 6'0" | SG Velva | 2023 State ND |6’0 G| Velva
He can fill it up from deep! Over the Xmas break, Kraft hit 7 triples in a single game at the Minot State Dome. He is a good-sized guard that brings instant offense. Velva has plenty of athletes that can slash for looks and they crush on the O-boards. Preston is a game-changer with his lefty stroke from deep.
Gaven Christianson Gaven Christianson 6'0" | PF Sargent County | 2023 State ND |6’0 F| Sargent County
He does not have the height but Gaven is as tough as they come. The Bulldogs are 5-0 on the year and Gaven is a huge part of that. If you like physical players that give 100% effort, you will like Christianson. He is a horse on the glass and is no stranger to a double-double.
Jacob Goettle Jacob Goettle 6'4" | PF Bismarck St. Mary | 2023 State ND |6’4 PF| St. Mary’s
He is a big and strong post. I watched him vs. Shanley early in the year and his hard work and effort were on display. Jacob was a stud football lineman and his footwork carries over to the basketball court. He can create space, score with back-to-the-basket moves, and he does good work on the glass.
Joey Richter Joey Richter 6'4" | PF Flasher | 2023 State ND |6’4 F| Flasher
He gives the Bulldogs interior scoring, rebounding, and post-defense. Flasher is a scary team with Friesz, Richter will be a key to all the success that the Bulldogs have. Joey is capable of putting up a double-double on any given night. Look out for Richter and the Bulldogs, they will be a difficult team to deal with come tourney time!
