Then, on Saturday, I was in attendance for the final four games of the 2022 Champions of Character Classic at Grace College. This showcase featured Concord taking down East Noble, Center Grove remaining unbeaten against Fort Wayne Snider, Warsaw holding off South Bend St. Joseph, and Fort Wayne Blackhawk outlasting Chesterton in a great final game of the night. Now, let’s take a look at the top 2025 performers from these five games this week.
Simpson is a tough 2025 shooting guard who is aggressive with the basketball in his hands. He looks to attack on every touch, and he either finishes strong inside or draws the foul and gets to the line. He ended with 9 points in the loss.
Prough is a fundamental 2025 point guard who does a lot of things well on the offensive end. He showed off really good vision and great passing ability. He is also active on the defensive end of the floor as he came up with 4 steals. Prough scored 10 points in the win, and he can light up from deep especially if he gets a rhythm catch-and-shoot three.
Highlights
Clopton is a quick 2025 shooting guard who looks to score on every touch. He can light it up from the outside as he shoots it with a ton of confidence. He is also very shifty in the lane and has nice body control inside. Clopton also rebounds it well as he can get up to compete with the big men. Clopton had 10 points and 7 boards in the loss.
Gould is more of a true point guard than his brother Jaxson, but even as a sophomore, Carson runs the Warsaw offense well. Gould is patient with the ball and utilizes his court vision to put the ball in the right place. Gould plays with a high basketball IQ, and he is an undervalued part of this team. He would end with 4 assists and 6 rebounds in the win.
Konieczny is a top-5 player in the 2025 class for a reason. The 6’4” wing can do whatever he wants on the basketball court, and he does it all well. He had a double-double at halftime in this one. Konieczny has great touch around the rim, and if he gets the ball in the post, he has more great finishing moves than you can count. He was forcing at some points, but he was the only one scoring much. Konieczny finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in this one. He has high-major potential for sure.
Highlights
Pickett is a big wing who can both shoot it from outside and dominate the paint. He has a great three-point and mid-range stroke, and his length makes it hard for any defender to contest his shot. He also has good touch inside when he gets into the paint. He is the third scoring option right now for the Braves, but when Sefton and Furst graduate, he is going to make a major step forward. He ended with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on 5-7 shooting in the win.
