Quickly, though, below is a simple look at the names of players who were made the biggest jump in the latest 2025 rankings update:
Latavious Morris Latavious Morris 5'8" | PG Atrisco Heritage | 2025 State NM (Atrisco Heritage) Guard: Latavious Morris Latavious Morris 5'8" | PG Atrisco Heritage | 2025 State NM from Atrisco Heritage is among the Top Tier of players in the 2025 Class with likes of Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM , Kenyon Aguino Kenyon Aguino 6'7" | PF Volcano Vista | 2025 State #257 Nation NM and Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM . This all started a season ago during his freshman year helping lead the Jaguars to the 5A Boys State Semifinals. By mid-season last year, he secured a spot in Atrisco’s starting lineup and has been in the starting five since. He is a quick and athletic scoring first guard that is deadly with the basketball in his hands. Latavious is often the smallest player on the court but makes up for it with his heart and will. Despite only being a second year player, the young guard has appeared in some big games for the Jaguars and will keep them in the hunt for a State Championship for years to come.
Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM (Volcano Vista) Point Guard: The best lockdown defender in his class and arguably the top one at his position in New Mexico already. Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM takes pride in affecting basketball games besides scoring the basketball. He is a great floor general for Volcano Vista and makes everyone around him better with his playmaking and communication. Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM is like having a second coach on the floor with his leadership on full display. He is the prototype a basketball program would like to have as their starting Point Guard.
Gabe Trujillo (West Mesa) Guard: Despite not being able to play this season because of the NMAA Transfer Rule, I’ve seen enough from Gabe Trujillo from the last few years and this off-season to confidently say that he’s a Top Five player in the 2025 Class. Gabe Trujillo can play either Guard position and is most effective when he has the basketball in his hands. He is a 3-Level scorer that can create his own shot off the dribble and catch. Gabe Trujillo leads the offense really well and does a great job at driving and kicking to open teammates. He will be an excellent acquisition for the Valley Vikings after transferring from West Mesa High School.
Daniel Lovato Daniel Lovato 6'5" | PF La Cueva | 2025 State NM (La Cueva) Forward: Sophomore Daniel Lovato Daniel Lovato 6'5" | PF La Cueva | 2025 State NM has already made an impact for the La Cueva Bears in his first year as a varsity starter. He is right behind Kenyon Aguino Kenyon Aguino 6'7" | PF Volcano Vista | 2025 State #257 Nation NM as the second best big man of his Class. Early in this young season, Daniel Lovato Daniel Lovato 6'5" | PF La Cueva | 2025 State NM is averaging a near double-double of 13 points per game and 9 rebounds per game. He shoots a high percentage around the rim and uses his size to his advantage. Daniel will be an important piece for the La Cueva Bears for the next two years after this season.
Rian Gonzales Rian Gonzales 6'4" | SG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM (Volcano Vista) Shooting Guard: Volcano Vista’s Sophomore Rian Gonzales Rian Gonzales 6'4" | SG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM looks stronger and bigger from his freshman year last season. This season it appears that he is playing with more confidence on offense. I have seen him take over games shooting the basketball from outside the arc. He has a quick shot release and spots up away from the ball really well. Rian Gonzales Rian Gonzales 6'4" | SG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM is an elite “Catch & Shoot” Shooter. When he gets in the zone offensively, he continues to ask for the basketball to keep his rhythm going throughout the game. He is arguably Volcano Vista’s best three-point shooting threat.
