Quickly, though, below is a simple look at the names of players who made the biggest jumps in the updated 2024 Rankings.
Marquise Renfro Marquise Renfro 6'0" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2024 State NM (Atrisco Heritage) Shooting Guard: Since the end of last season, Marquise Renfro Marquise Renfro 6'0" | SG Atrisco Heritage | 2024 State NM has burst into the scene for Atrisco Heritage. Throughout the off-season, he has improved a lot on his outside shot which has helped his overall offensive game. He is one of the top slashers at his position and is at his best when he puts the basketball on the floor taking it to the basket. So far in this young season, he has been the teams leader on defense when pressing opposing teams inbounding the basketball. His defense has created havoc on that side of the floor and turned those turnovers into points on the other side of the floor. His play has helped the Jaguars start the season off strong at 7-1.
Cody Vassar-Steen Cody Vassar-Steen 6'2" | PG Farmington | 2024 State NM (Farmington) Point Guard: After averaging 12.3 points per game as a sophomore last season, Cody Vassar-Steen Cody Vassar-Steen 6'2" | PG Farmington | 2024 State NM has already increased his scoring production to start off his junior year. In two of his first three games, he’s scored 20+ points while leading the Scorpions to a 2-1 record so far. He is an All-Around Point Guard that can rebound the ball really well and get others involved with his passing.
Ac Munoz (Mayfield) Point Guard: Ac Munoz from Mayfield High School is a scoring-first Point Guard that knows how to score the ball at a high level. To start off his junior year, he has averaged 21.5 points per game and can create for himself really well. Despite being a Guard, he gets his share of rebounds and does a good job positioning himself to get boards off the glass. On the defensive end, he racks up his share of steals from the passing lanes and off deflections.
Jonathon Lukesh Jonathon Lukesh 5'10" | SG Albuquerque | 2024 State NM (Rio Grande) Shooting Guard: The Rio Grande Ravens Star has had increased production every season in high school so far in his career. Jonathon Lukesh Jonathon Lukesh 5'10" | SG Albuquerque | 2024 State NM has almost doubled his scoring average from last season averaging 9.5 points per game as a sophomore to 17.9 points per game this season as a junior so far. He can really space the floor with his outside shooting and can play off the basketball. He is a solid shot creator and maker when plays are ran through him. Jonathon Lukesh Jonathon Lukesh 5'10" | SG Albuquerque | 2024 State NM has improved at getting to the free throw line and playing through the contact where he shoots an outstanding 86% from the free throw line.
Elijah Brody Elijah Brody 6'2" | SF West Mesa | 2024 State NM (West Mesa) Forward: The transfer of Elijah Brody Elijah Brody 6'2" | SF West Mesa | 2024 State NM from Cleveland to West Mesa has already proven to be impactful for the West Mesa Mustangs so far this season. He is a player that is versatile enough to play multiple positions on both sides of the floor. He is the teams most All-Around player and does several things at a high level. Elijah Brody Elijah Brody 6'2" | SF West Mesa | 2024 State NM has proven to be the missing peice the Mustangs needed a season ago to compete for the 5A State Championship.
