Gary “Ethan” Meadows Gary “Ethan” Meadows 6'0" | PG Meigs County | 2024 State TN surpassed 1,000 career points at the Harriman Christmas Classic. His Meigs County Tigers won the game over Wartburg.
Tyshaun Poore (Cane Ridge) put up 20, a remarkable 40% of his team’s 50 points in a frustrating 51-50 loss to Summit on Summit’s floor. Poore is one of the best freshmen in the state. His stat line also included three assists and three steals.
Josh Thompson (Douglass) scored nine points and hauled in four rebounds in a 52-49 loss to Haywood High School in a tournament semifinal. Those two teams are out in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at an event as old as a giant sequoia tree. Jarmon Brittman Jarmon Brittman 6'2" | SF Douglass | 2025 State TN was important, registering eight points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
In their final game of the week, playing in Todd County Central High School (Kentucky), Central Magnet aims Friday to beat Covington. In a blowout 72-47 loss to the hosts, Central Magnet leaned on four players for scoring: Mason Brown Mason Brown 6'0" | SG Central Magnet | 2024 TN 15 pts, Owen Zubkus 9 pts, Jake Maddox Jake Maddox 6'5" | SF Central Magnet (baseball) | 2024 State TN 7 pts, Mclane Martin 7 pts.
Davis Long Davis Long 6'0" | PG Franklin | 2024 State TN scored 16 points to lead the team. Franklin crushed a Mississippi team hardly worth mentioning as they lost 66-22! Franklin High is attempting to claim the Sandestin Beach Blowout Championship Friday (today). Curiously, the Rebels will play a team comprised of players that live less than 10 minutes from their houses…in Tennessee. Independence and Franklin could have played this game without traveling the 425 miles each, each way, but then that wouldn’t be in the basketball Christmas spirit, now would it?
Cookeville is now 10-4. They conquered Pace, a Floridian outfit, 59-41 on the backs of Josh Heard (26p) and Jack Oakley Jack Oakley 6'3" | SG Cookeville | 2024 State TN (12).
