Continue ReadingPH NorCal was in the gym for 2 games this week. The first game on 12/20. Castro Valley played a home game against Clayton Valley Charter. They lost 61-53. On Wednesday 12/21 we went up on the hill to see another non-league game. The host Valley Christian lost to Christopher 53-36. Here are some of the standouts from the 2 games.
Jake King Jake King 6'5" | SF Clayton Valley Charter | 2023 State CA-N 6’5 2023 Forward from Clayton Valley Charter. He had the hot hand early showing off his new, and improved shot making in the corners from behind the line. King hit his first three 3ptrs in the corner to finish the half with 4. He later added another to finish with 5, 3ptrs in the game and 18pts. He had multiple rebounds, with impressive long passes up the court.
James Moore 6’2 2024 SG from Clayton Valley Charter. Fresh off his MVP from a tournament last week, Moore continued to be a productive player for this team. He went 11/11 from the free throw line. At 6’2 he has the athleticism, and hops to be effective around the rim. His hard drives into the paint produced points. He rebounds from the guard spot. He finished with 24pts.
Elijah Perryman 6’3 2025 CG from Clayton Valley Charter. He has good length, with long arms to help rebound, and get blocks. He can play both guard positions. He was patient up top with good passing, and decision making, with a good first step, he penetrated the paint off the dribble. He has the foot-speed and the length to get to the rim, and finish from the perimeter and along the baseline. He’s good in transition finishing around the rim with the lift to throw one down. 11pts.
Darius Jackson 6’2 2023 Guard from Castro Valley. He finished the game with 20pts, after sitting out the whole 3rd qtr battling the flu. He had 11 points at the half, 9 in the 4th. He’s a bouncy guard with the ability to score points from different angles on the court. He used his dribble to go by defenders, and into the paint for jumpers, and strong finishes. He had two 3ptrs.
Esias Goodwin 6’0 2024 Guard from Castro Valley. It was our first look at the lanky, shifty ball handling guard. He has good speed with the ball in transition and on the perimeter. He has nice crossover dribble he uses to go by defenders. He dropped a couple of nice bounce passes when he got into the paint for assists.
Chigozie Okeke 6’0 2023 PG from Christopher. His point guard skills were on display from the beginning. He’s improved his game since the last time we saw him. He’s a solid body with good ball handling, and passing skills to involve teammates regularly. He found teammates coming off screens for 3’s, fed the post good, and found runners in transition. His on ball defense was good. A good first step, 9pts, 5 assists.
Braddock Kjellesvig Braddock Kjellesvig 6'7" | PF De La Salle | 2025 State CA-N 6’5 2025 Forward from Christopher. He’s a rising prospect in this class. He’s a big body, moves well, and can play a physical game. He makes himself a wide target in the post, he’ll turn, and go strong, or send out a pass to the shooter. He’s an active rebounder recording a double double to finish with 10pts, and 10 rebounds. He made 6/7 at the free throw line. He can drive, and pass it from the high post 4asts. He’ll work to defend in the post, and hustle up the court.
Rafael Urrabazo 5’9 2024 SG from Christopher. He’s a good shooting guard that runs the court filling lanes and finding open spots to put up a 3ptr, he hit a couple of 3’s in the corner to finish with two 3’s and 10pts.
Sam Guenther 6’0 2025 Guard from Christopher. He can play both guard positions, early on he ran the point using his vision, and effective passing skills to feed the post, and find cutters early in the game. He has good movement off the ball making sure ball handlers see him open on the perimeter for catch 3ptrs. He has good form, and a quick release on the jump shot.
