The event featured 14 teams from across the Palmetto State playing 3 days down in Georgetown County at Carvers Bay HS. Hats off to Head Coach Jeff Mezzatesta and his coaching staff along with his staff of workers at the school. Great hospitality across the board here from concession stand, scorekeepers, administration and the hospitality room itself. 1st Class Operation across the board.
Who were some New Names that came across the board here at the Class A Showcase? Every year you always find a few new players that come to your attention. Let’s read a bit more right here.
Harold Deloach Harold Deloach 6'4" | SF Allendale-Fairfax | 2023 State SC is playing his first year of basketball at Allendale-Fairfax HS he told Prep Hoops. Deloach has a long and skinny frame from the perimeter for the Tigers. Harold a left-handed forward prefers to play out on the perimeter face-up for the most part. He will extend the defense at times with his willingness to shoot the 3-ball. He was able to collect a few block shots with his ability to alter and challenge shots on the defensive end of the court.
Gearldo Washington Gearldo Washington 6'0" | SG Military Magnet Academy | 2023 State SC is a quick footed guard for the Military Magnet Academy Eagles. Washington really seems to be at his best when he looks to attack the basket. Gearldo can drop some perimeter jumpers at times with the ability of creating his own shot. Can the Eagles surprise some teams when it comes to Region play here in 2023?
Tres’shon Rumph Tres’shon Rumph 6'5" | SF Bamberg-Ehrhardt | 2023 State SC was extremely active around the basket today and running the floor for the Bamberg-Ehrhardt HS Red Raiders. Rumph is quick off the floor with his ability to be a leaper. He fills the lane nicely in transition and really looks to cover a lot of ground on both sides of the hardwood.
Tyshaun Grice is an absolute Junk-Yard Dog inside the paint for the Carvers Bay HS Bears. Grice works his tail off while trying to collect rebounds on the glass. He’s going to have to put some numbers during region play and provide a presence in the post for the Bears this season. Tyshaun still must finish better around the rim, but that determination and grit is already in place for him.
